A former Storm Lake mayor... and long-time radio personality... has passed away.
Harold “Andy Lynn” Statz of Storm Lake died Thursday, January 10th, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. He was 83.
Andy was a native of Saint Cloud, Minnesota... and moved to Storm Lake in 1948. He was an original staff member at KAYL Radio in Storm Lake, and continued working at the station until last month. Much of that time, he was on the air daily on KAYL-AM... although he also worked in other areas of the station, including sales and commercial writing. In the 1970s and early 80s, Andy served as mayor of Storm Lake. He also worked briefly on the staff of Congressman Berkley Bedel in 1982.
Funeral service will be Monday, January 14th, at 10:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake.
