Long Timer Humble Out at Classic96

Long time personality Emily Humble out at Classic 96 in fairfield. No replacement as of yet, believe they are going simulcast kmcd on classic (kkfd) in the mornings. Humble was news director until morning host Steve Shaw left that being when she took that slot. My opinion it was a poor choice to flip kkfd (fomerly) kiik to classic.

I didn't realize they had switched their format. Guess it's been awhile since I've been able to listen. I remember in the late 80's when they were live Top 40 and had some cool Power Station jingles from Jam. That's when they were KMCD-FM and known as K-96. Later they morphed into KIIK 96. At some point they went to satellite oldies. Last time I heard them they were doing contemporary music again as Hit 96. (I could be wrong with the name.) I believe they were doing a Hot AC format, but I'm not positive. I'll have to check out Classic 96.

BTW, what's KMCD doing these days?

Timb, Latest Station Profiles from their website.

There’s a new sound coming through the airwaves in Fairfield, as 1570 KMCD and 95.9 KIIK have changed formats. Listeners of both stations have come to count on and appreciate the local flavor of both stations, with local news, sports and weather, and now both stations offer live morning shows from 6 to 9 a.m. with local talent.

KMCD, formerly, the “Talk of Southeast Iowa” has gone country, and now offers a classic country format, and is dubbed “Your Hometown Station.” KMCD Radio serves Jefferson County and the surrounding area with America’s number one radio format, Classic Hit Country, along with the local content KMCD listeners have come to expect for the last five decades with local news from Emily Humble, local sports, with Lee Muntz, and morning show host, Steve Smith.

And on the FM side listeners can now tune in to Classic 96, formerly HOT 96 FM. Classic 96 is geared toward the Baby Boomer generation with the best hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Classic 96 intertwines some of the new hits of today that will soon be classics. Classic 96 offers a strong connection to the community with a live morning show with Steve Shaw from 6-9 a.m. with live sports and news briefs and more great features.

The format changes took effect October 1, 2007, four months after the stations were acquired by Good Radio.TV. The stations were previously owned by Fairfield Media Group.
