Longest Atlanta radio teams?

You can't be the longest running Atlanta team though when you have been fired, off the air in the market and jumped all around.

You're obviously not in radio.

Almost every morning show has been hired, fired, moved across town or across the country a couple of time. We're all gypsies, pirates and
oddly off center. It's why you listen. Nobody gets into radio for job security. Gary McKee, Dale O'Brien, Jimmy Baron.... they all get passed around.

You asked for Longest Atlanta Radio team. That's Randy & Spiff. They've been on the air together for over 23 years and exclusively in Atlanta for the last 18. Next time be specific.

As for the dysFUNctional news director Jtudor: It was WBT-FM. They were Top 40, switched to AC and didn't feel that Randy & Spiff could make the transition. The station is now WLNK, thus defunct. R & S were unemployed for two weeks. In radio we call that a paid vacation.

Still, better than a real job.

Jeez, why so angry? Isn't it 5 O'Clock somewhere?

Very well, I stand corrected on WBCY (alias WBT-FM) however I still stand by my statement of the misuse of the word defunct.

WBCY was WBT-FM, then WBCY, then back to WBT-FM, and is now WLNK. However format changes and call letter changes do not make a Radio station defunct.

They would only be defunct if the station no longer existed, which is no the case.

If you change your name does that make you defunct? If you change your musical taste are you now defunct? No of course you are not, so why would a radio station be defunct because of a name change or musical format change?

Case closed.

My, you must be fun on to hang out with. I was using the other definition:
de·funct /dɪˈfʌŋkt–adjective 1. no longer in effect or use; not operating or functioning: a defunct law; a defunct organization

Clearly the format, call-letters and morning show are not operating or functioning as WBT-FM. I wouldn't be suprised if all the management and ownership has changed also. Would you say that Eastern Airlines is still operational or defunct?

Maybe you should open your case and have a couple of cold ones and wonder why you drink alone.....

Without a doubt, it's "Atlanta Morning News" with Scott Slade and the crew on NewsTalk 750 WSB-AM. I've hearing them long before I moved here to Atlanta from Savannah since the 1996 Olympic Park Bombing. They have a darn good storng signal anywhere at night (especially during wintertime). That beats satellite
and the internet any day.

While it's certainly nowhere close to some of the records like Scott Slade or Steve and Vicki... 104.7's Kevin Avery and Taylor Scott are coming up on 7 years here in Atlanta which is pretty good in light of all the other casualties in the market, especially at other Christian stations.
