Skips are so much fun. Not too far north of Dodge City, Kansas about 10 years ago, I was looking for anything to listen to and hit an oldies station: a class A FM in Key West, Florida. Listened a good 20 minutes including a stop set.
The next year in the same area, hitting scan, in the same area of Kansas, there's 93-Q with the stereo light doing traffic talking about an accident in or near Humble. I was so used to hearing Houston traffic reports, it took a few seconds to put two and two together.
I wonder if certain geographic areas are just perfect spots for skips. On the highway between Rocksprings, Texas and Sonora, I would pick up a western coast FM almostt every trip down that road. I listened to one station a good 40 minutes once...sure it faded a bit at times but always came back in within a few seconds.
