Longest-Running Local Announcers

> Brad Flick.

not current, but does anybody remember just how long Ned Rutledge was at HVR before he passed?

I remember growing up listening to him while riding in the family station wagon, I always thought he had the coolest voice.

Well, I remember first hearing RJ on Starview 92 circa 1976, Dan Steele on KBO probably 1975. Jim Buchannon on KBO around that same time. The recently deceased Ron Drake had a good run on WHP (about 35 years??).

I know that Chris Andree is older than RJ, but I can't remember who was on the air first. Too many cobwebs in my brain. Probably RJ; I think he started on air around the age of 4 or something like that.
______________

My understanding is that he started in 1952. He was on till shortly before he died in the late 90's. Ned was quite a character. He was a magician. His sideline was performing magic shows. He was known as "Mr. Hanover" and was a truly beloved local personality. He once told me the story that he was offered a job (with that incredible voice) as a network announcer in New York in the early 50's. But he preferred the small-town life and decided to stay in Hanover, which he never regretted. Drove an old, beat up AMC Pacer. Ned was one-of-a-kind.

I worked with Henry for a while. I think he started at WLBR in the '50s. But, still, you have a point. Henry has to have everybody beat in this area.
______________

Olin Harris gets my vote. He is host of the "Gospel Cavalcade" on Sunday mornings on 1400 The Touch. I do know he was on WHP-AM when I moved to Harrisburg in 1968 and it seems to me he did a stint on WKBO and WFEC if I am not mistaken in the late 60's/early 70's timeframe.

Olin Harris was also on WWII in the 80's.

Olin was also WHP's weatherman during the days of Tom Sinkovitz and Tim Melton in the '70s.
______________

Man, I think you'd have to find exact start dates to be sure.
Henry H. goes way back as does Ned R. Ben was on for many years, but I'm not sure that it was longer than either of these two. Would Dave Brandt be excluded because he was on TV? I keep thinking that I'm missing someone else.

Bill is still on WTPA Sunday afternoons.

Ray Thomas -- I think (it's a bit hazy) that I recall listening to him on WHYL-FM at night in the mid 70's. Brad Flick would have been in Diapers .. or at least Chambersburg at that time. How about the person who has worked at the most stations (full time) in Central PA? Probably RJ.

A lot of central PA jocks, myself included, started in the mid-70s.

Yes, I remember Ned Rutledge -- he was on the air when I was a child, from the very early 1950s on. Quite a character.
