What if Prince had had a special (or a series) during the time that he was using that unpronounceable symbol as his name? ;D I don't have that character anywhere on this keyboard! ;D
It would have been "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Special"...which is how he was referred to at that time, since that symbol couldn't be spoken either.
...last I heard, he couldn't get his records pronounced on the radio in the last dozen years, either ;-) ...
Mix 92.9 here in Nashville (still) plays "1999," but they won't touch anything else by him! ::) Interesting, considering that they are an AC station!

This talk about Prince reminds me of what I remember seeing on the 700 Club way back in 1984. Pat Robertson and his then-co host Ben Kinchlow were talking about sexual lyrics in rock and country music and the lyrics of the Prince tune "Darling Nikki" was brought up which BTW The 700 Club had flashed on the camera for all the viewers to see, even the part about..well you know. Roberston asked "..what do you think THAT meant?" The Ben says "..well at least Nikki is getting her exercise".

Kinky stuff on The 700 Club..who would had imagined.

"Darling Nikki" was supposedly the basis for Tipper Gore starting the PMRC. And now you know! ;D

Obviously this wasn't the real title or the longest program title, but the working title in promotional materials for "Sesame Street" prior to its November 1969 launch was the "Preschool Educational Television Show" (if that would have been used, could the title eventually been shortened to the acronym "PETS"?).

Despite its four words, the working title for "Sesame Street" above would have had 13 syllables--a real tongue twister.

Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse
The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour
The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show
The Bugs Bunny And Tweety Show
Tom And Jerry/Great Grape Ape and Muggsy Show
The Sylvester And Tweety Mysteries
Fonz And The Happy Days Gang/Laverne and Shirley/Mork and Mindy Hour
That Was The Week That Was

I just thought of another one:

"The Pink Panther Laugh-And-A-Half, Hour-And-A-Half Show".

What's the longest program title NOT abbreviated for a listing in TVGuide or other television listings? I'm sure someone here knows!

As for that one, I don't really know.

You can also add "The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour" (NBC, 1983-84) to the above list.
