Longmire: A western or crime show?

It's a modern era crime show set in a mountaineous community (Possibly set somewhere in Colorado given the direct reference to Denver). That's the way I see it

Definately different & refreshing

Do I watch it? Nope. That's because it's on at the same time my favorite shows are on another network

Cheers & 73 ;D

Is there a difference other than the time in which the show was set? Most Western plot lines revolved around outlaws (criminals), and sheriffs, marshals or Texas rangers (cops). The latter figure out who done it and catch the bad guys. Dragnet: 1867.
