Dave Baum spent a year or two at KMOX around 1977-78, then came back to WIND.
If you'e got Miller, Gears, Sebastian, and Weber doing weekends, that means you've got a heck of a weekday lineup. Either that or you've got some heavy hitters between fulltime gigs. Or both.
Radioman and others may already know what follows here, but for anyone interested who may not....
Bob Del Giorno went on to be a legend for a couple of decades at WWL in New Orleans. Chuck Benson went to mid-days at WFYR-FM. I thought he was really good, and I had heard he got into station ownership in Colorado. Connie Szercen and I were exchanging e-mails for a time around early 2000. I think she was looking to get back into radio fulltime (and. of course after more than 20 years, I was unable to help). Dave Baum eventually wound up at WSCR doing Saturday mornings. A good listen, as always. Ed Schwartz took his overnight act to WGN and continued to own the Chicago overnight audience for many years.
Good points Cyberdad. Chuck Benson was excellent (Remember Benson & Russell?)He also spent many years in Dallas as a Top 40 jock before coming to Chicago. Dave Baum eventually got into business and did radio on his terms, Saturday mornings on The Score. Connie did do weekends on WJMK before they got "Jacked". WIND was a very good talk station. I was sorry when it ended in 1985.

And Gary Gears used to do guest shots on the Voice of Russia! (Or was it still Radio Moscow then?) I remember hearing him with prerecorded intros and such on "Vasily's Weekend," Vasily Strelnikov's glasnost-y approximation of a "morning zoo"-type program, on shortwave every Saturday for a while. I believe Gears died some years back.
Yes, Gears passed in the early 90s. What a voice he had.
It had to have been Radio Moscow. Gears died on 2/17/1991. Radio Moscow survived the end of the USSR (12/25/91), and became the Voice of Russia in 1993.
