Look out, it's Back

I would rather do 9pm-11pm on a low power AM station that only reaches the parking lot of the Colonnade Restaurant than a weekly podcast.

That shows just how short sighted you are.

I understand it's the first ever call-in podcast. You can reach the Kimmer by dialing bingity bangity bongity, bingity bongity... ;)

Gotta admit, though, the coverage will be far wider than that of WGST!

I like the Kimmer but the most popular personality "ever"? In 80 plus years of radio in Atlanta, I think there have been a few who maybe, just maybe might have been as popular if not more so than the Kimmer.

well, I'm sure he'll do well...considering his format and target audience, he's got lots more to say now than he did a couple of years ago.

How do you define well when comes to podcasts. A thousand people listened?

That's actually a very good question. What are the "numbers" you have to hit to have a podcast that's worth even taking out to pitch to advertisers?

Should Rodney also cover the podcast beat and talk about all podcasters out of Atlanta?

what I meant was that since Kimmer was popular in the Atlanta area, I'm sure that once word spreads about his podcast, his fans will probably listen.

The again, I wonder if a clash of demographics and technology will get in the way. My father in-law is in his 60's..he used to listen to Kimmer..he's not technologically savvy so he's not likely to try to listen to the kimmer podcast simply because he would find subscribing to a podcast a rather cumbersome process. "why go through all that to listen to a 30 minute podcast when I can turn on the radio?"

I know that's not the case will all Sr's, though.

Podcasts are not radio, and the value is not in how many people listen, but in the impact on the few that do listen.

It's like social media. The smart brands (in any industry) are not those that just copy-and-paste their advertising into Facebook or Twitter. It's about creating awesome bonds with your best customers.

Quality, not quantity.

And now, a list of the media CEOs who understand quality over quantity:

2.
3.
4.
5.

Adam Carolla regularly gets 300,000+ downloads.

One more people in this industry realize that we are content providers who happen to put the content on a radio station, rather than radio stations that air content, the more successful we'll be in the long run.

Methinks I'll be waiting for a while on that one.

Oh, and Snake Davis was the best sports guy in Atlanta, hands down.
