Look who's back

Hey Mark Williams, if you can hear me, are you on the air somewhere, or is it just old clips plus a few guest host appearances? Other than dogging PAMAL for unresolved professional and/or interpersonal differences, what are you doing these days with your free time? Lastly, have you seen the new guy's ratings? Just don't listen to MT1's description of the new guy's show, because it's clear he isn't a listener. In case you haven't heard him yet, the new new guy is, in short order, arguably more local and increasingly more connected to what's going on than anyone else in the region. He also delivers a national and international perspective, not to mention great off beat chuckles. It's awesome! His competition is definitely aware of him, and the debates are only one example of how his station is making great strides. My only hope is that they soon dump Beck, Gibson, and the other "conservative" blowhards, and get more guys like him, Miller, and Combs. I know you probably like those (wacko right) guys since you are philosophically aligned with them, but I think the voters, and the listeners, have spoken. But no worries, we'll get it sorted out in time.

peace,
Mr. G

I was not a huge fan of Mark Williams during his last tenure in our Capital Region but Mr G. do you have any idea what you are talking about as far as 590 and their ratings?.... Sherman maybe a swell and funny guy but his latest trends are atrocious. In the coveted males 30ish to 50ish he is being doubled and tripled by both WGY and the upstart 1300.. ABC is not fond of low ratings and lower cash flow so dont expect Mr Balwin here for the long run .You also mention Dennis Miller in with Combs?...Maybe listen to his show a bit. Miller is a Center/Right guy who is very funny just not cut out for his local time slot. He would be better served being on in Combs time slot...but I digress

Left radio does not work(bring in money)...for if it did Gibson Beck and whomever else you like to demonize would be wiped from the radio landscape

Don't know who you are Mr. G. but you apparently know nothing about either the Albany Book (as pointed out ny NYHC86) or whatever "relationship" problems that you think Mark Williams may have with WROW... Isn't Williams spending a good deal of money running his organizations political ads on WROW? WGY too, and he worked there.

Seems like if a guy gives money to somebody he worked for, and they take it and run his voice on their air, that the "relationship" can't be that bad.

I agree that Mark Williams has talent but, for whatever reason, it didn't work out in Albany. I don't know what kool aid you are drinking Mr. G, but whatever it is, you cannot possibly believe that you and Mr. Baldwin have a marketable program. At best, it sounds like a bad college show. The big funny is that Baldwin and yourself tout these "ratings" that you have, do you believe if you say it enough it will become real? ABC gets very itchy with bad ratings, especially when it's a program director who has them. Can't wait for that big debate, the questions ought to be hard hitting with Baldwin as moderator. I predict a change in the offing, sooner rather than later. Although an exit of "afternoon drive" will leave those at WGY and GDJ looking for something else to make fun of.

Tick, tock

::) Really? Have I inspired even more new heads of this Mark Williams Hydra? http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~dolan/constellations/constellations/Hydra.html

Regarding you running adverts in the capital region, it only proves that cash is king, even Mr "huge" runs adverts on ABC, and he is the competition, no? At least you're finally bringing some revenue to the station! ;D

That said, and seriously, much of my understanding of your relationship with ABC was based on your anti pamal sentiments openly posted on your blog. Did I miss something about hugs and kisses? Of course I haven't walked in your shoes, and sometimes things are said that we regret, or we are just misunderstood... but reality isn't just what's inside your head! It's also what's in the public domain. Take for another example your rabid anti-Obama rhetoric. http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=1169317

I trust you could understand why some of it might be offensive?? Seriously Mark, from where I stand, you couldn't be further from mainstream if you owned a gps, knew how to use it, and had a mainstream phobia.

Lastly -- regarding ratings -- we can say anything we want, and no proof will likely ever be printed here, and don't waste your time quoting publicly available 12+ data, because you know as well as I do that it doesn't address the issue, and pretending it does makes you look dumb. So regardless of whether your replacement ate your lunch in short order, or if you were the greatest thing to never catch on in the capital region, the truth is that I'd rather be green and right, than arrogant and wrong. ; )

peace,
Mr. G

Maybe it's because I'm on the air in that market (doing political spots) but all of a sudden I am getting emails from people telling me that somebody is - again, holding a conversation with me through this site, in their mind. Last time was a different screen name but I am guessing that this is the same person, one who seems to have a continuing problem with my WROW show 6 months after I ended it to take a position with a conservative political action committee, which is "gasp" working to ensure that Obama's effort to destroy the nation as we know it fails.

I am honored nonetheless, my stable of stalkers has been thinning out. Haven't seen the ratings there, don't care. Decisions on which stations to buy for our flight re: the NY 20th were made by staff paid to make those kinds of calls based on their consideration of a variety of factors that led to a specific mix of radio and TV stations there and in New York City that deliver the demographic and geographic mix we are targeting.
