I prefer small markets/towns, I'm mainly an on air guy but can do a little bit of everything.

Email me confidentially, [email protected] I have a Resume with references and mp3 demos I can send.

As I said before on the Arkansas board, I don't think anyone is going to email you. If that really works, then I would be doing it too but I'm not.

If Wyoming is where your heart is, then keep trolling All Access and Radio-Info. There was a group looking to pick up quite a few stations and CPs in the state. I think they already started some new stations up....so just dig around on the net a little.

The company is Northeast Broadcasting. They put two new stations on in Jackson with more to come. GM is Bruce Pollock.

Stay away from Northeast Broadcasting at all costs. Terrible company, shoestring operations and no respect for their people.

just curious - why would you choose to work in a small market?? doesn't every jock on earth want to work in a bigger market than they're in? that's how we measure occupational growth (well, that and money!)

Big Antenna,

I started out in Needles, CA and moved to Casper, worked three years there then my career took off. Denver, Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, Atlanta and even did a stint in Europe working for AFN as a civilian broadcaster. Great career. Since 1994 I've worked in Cleveland/Chattanooga, TN. This was my CHOICE to downsize market for stability. Same job...very nice pay...I own a couple of acres and a nice house. I know the mayor on a first name basis, and many of my listeners are great friends. I've had offers to leave and wouldn't think of it.

In large and major markets the top jocks on the top five stations make kick butt money, the rest survive. And since consolidation, it's even worse. Market size has so little to do with it anymore. If your gonna make 40-50 thousand a year in a large market where the cost of living is killer and job security is book to book, why not make 30-40 thousand a year in a much more stable environment where you can live much better on the money you do make?

Those are just my experiences and thoughts. I'd love to hear everyone elses.

Hey Big A.. I started in Casper, found my way to LA, Vegas and around the world. Sometimes, a guy's just had enough. I can say: been there, done that. The idea of being the big fish in Casper or any smaller market isn't all bad.

Unfortunately Slurpee, it's usually a big fish in a dry pond.
These small markets run dirt cheap with syndication and part time board ops during the church services on sunday.
If you can survive on that, bless you.

What is the scoop on Northeast Broadcasting? They have been looking for an engineer for about 6 months on All Access

Can't say I'm surprised to hear that the engineer exited.

Dealing with the management of this company will only cause you to age prematurely. If you enjoy being yelled at on the phone on a regular basis, dealing with a boss who likely suffers from ADD, and no budget to work with, then this is the place for you. There were big bucks and big ambitions behind those stations, all of which seem to have dried up.
