Does anyone know where I could find a tape of any network's live coverage of
9/11?

A great one is "CNN Tribute: America Remembers The Events of September 11 and America's Response". The DVD brings you in to the newsroom as the events happened and were discovered.

Another great documetary is the one from the filmakers that happened to already be filming the daily life of a New York Fire Department Station and one of its new recruits. If you ever saw video of the first plane crashing into the tower, it came from these guys. This is easily the most dramatic (and sometimes hard to watch) documentary of 9/11; since they were actually in the towers right before they fell. The name of that video is simply called "9/11".

From Amazon:

I did have several hours of CNN's coverage on tape for a long time, but I taped over it fairly recently. It ran from about 3-6 PM anyway, which was long after the last attack.

I believe I still have a VHS of home-edited coverage from 9/11. It was taped on TiVo and edited to video. It begins approximately a minute to a minute and a half before the second plane hits (I was watching the Houston Fox affiliate, which was carrying Fox News Channel). Sadly, I do not have the original CBS News Special Report I was watching shortly after the first plane hit.

Please contact me if you would be interested in a copy.

It aired on CBS Sunday, March 10, 2002 and it was hosted by Robert Deniro. I was surprised to hear the language on CBS! There were no real commercials either, except for a generic plug from Nextel. Still disturbing to watch today, almost 4 years later. However, I'm glad I taped it.

CBS News released a book titled "What We Saw" that has a DVD with it which is a two hour documentry but it also contains a chunk of CBS's coverage of the 9/11 attacks, as well as feature stories from the days following the events. I happened to find a copy of it at Dollar Tree, but that has been a few months ago. There are copies available on Amazon.<P ID="signature">______________

>>Thanks Tim. I may be in touch. I guess what I was looking for was
the actual moment when one of the networks broke in to their
programming and a couple of hours thereafter. Someone may have
planned on taping a regularly scheduled show and then captured
the network news bulletin instead.
