Looking For a Few Good People

The East Tennessee Radio Group has several immediate opportunities. We're looking for a News Director, a Morning Drive Personality for our new FM and, of course, we're always searching for good sales people. If you're interested, please call (865) 932-6002/extension 116 or e-mail [email protected]. Females and Minorities are encouraged to apply. East Tennessee Radio Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

I hear that the morning news anchor and morning show side kick at XBQ in Bristol might be looking. He did tell me that a station somewhere out west was courting him.

Anyone know the format?

No, but this might be a good time to toss around some ideas of what formats might work in Sevier County. Forget country since WIVK's signal is solid there and it already failed on WDLY. Classic Hits would be nice since WOKI, Jack, and The Point, all have very lousy signals in Sevier County.

The old, and I repeat old, WDLY did very well for Sevier County actually in the early 90s before changes in management (and I'm NOT refering to the people who now own WSEV 105.5).

In terms of listeners/numbers, those stations don't sell based off Arbitron anyway. I'm interested to see just how far this new station's 500 watts will cover. Sevier County is a cash pot, and if marketed well, this new little station will make money.

I used to work there until recently. The people are very good. It was a great place to get my feet wet. Trustowrthy, too.

Bill is first-class.

One note... you will WORK, however, very, very, very hard.

106.3's coverage area will be very close to 105.5.

Format: Classic Hits
Calls: WPFT
COL: Pigeon Forge

My question is won't classic hits be a little close to the format of 105.5? I haven't been in the area in a while but last time I was there it seemed like 105.5 played a lot of songs that you would also hear on a classic hits station.

Stumbled accross this station Friday night while driving thru Knoxville. Listened from around Emory Road to Lenoir City. Good mix of music. Listened again this morning, from just south of Lenoir City to Rutledge Pike area. Signal Ok but not great thru west Knox, very good from Papermill on east. Enjoy the variety. Wish they had a stronger signal.

I think Cleveland Wheeler is available

Burkett!

I know that you worked with Cleveland Wheeler at APE years back. I didn't know if you knew that he was in Tennessee and probably available. There are a ton of legendary acts on the beach today. Jack Armstrong, Fred Winston, Bob Dearborn, and Wheeler, just to name a few.
Like a fashion show of what radio COULD be, again.

I had a chance to listen the other day. East and south of Knoxville has a listenable signal, it starts to break up north of town where I live. The music sounds good, but come on, open up the purse strings a bit and hire some jocks, The Knoxville area doesn't need another juke box.

Isn't Cleveland working for a country or Oldies station in Chattanooga?

I make the move back down to Pigeon Forge in a heartbeat. Lets see, look out the studio and see nothing but corn like I do up here in Indiana...or be able to walk out of the studio and see the beautiful Smoky Mountains, yah thats not even a toss up!
