Looking For A Home Town Gig

Been in Dallas, with the exception of three tours in Vietnam, all my life. Celebrating my 40th year of entertaining the troops. Since 2006 have been doing weekly music shows, both audio and video, with unsigned artists through the Podsafe Music Network or the Military Entertainment Network, which I founded. Classic Rock is my genre. Opie and Anthony have encouraged me to find a gig, so here I am.

I have also, for the past two years, been doing PA work in the Dallas area.

Salem is looking for a part time board op for 11 bucks and hour...other than that, get in line buddy. Everyone and their mom is looking for a broadcasting job since the industry decided to take a crap and dump salary for automation and voice tracking.

"But I'm a radio vet"...PD's and GM's are playing the budget game, so unless you work for minimum wage, a kid out of csb will get first shot since he'll work for peanuts.

Anyway...don't you think it's a cheap way to "look for a job?" A message board?

You would be surprised how Discussion Boards can be a valuable asset. I am doing VO today because of someone I made contact with 10 years ago on an unrelated board. I have had several direct contacts already with some decent ideas of who to see. So my friend, never underestimate the power of communication, regardless of what venue it takes place on.

Succinctly stated there, Mr. Rabbit.

If folks can find spouses through this medium, surely a radio gig can be had. Just sayin'.... ;D ;D ;D

What kind of backhanded comment is this?

IMHO, with so many of us looking for full time employment, as well as any possible v/o gigs, I don't see a problem with Mr. Rabbit doing his best to get the word out - good luck in your endeavor.
