Education Requirements: Four-year college degree and two years’ minimum experience preferred, with an emphasis in Broadcast Communications or related experience. Prior reporting experience preferred. Emphasis on enterprise and investigative reporting preferred. The ability to work well with others is a must, along with a positive, can-do attitude. Creativity, resourcefulness, and strong organizational skills desired. Must have a valid New York State driver license. Knowledge of the area is a plus.

With Webb and Clark leaving it is possible that the posting is for one of those positions.

One would assume it is for Clark's job since Webb was classified as a medical reporter.

I wonder how many recent Newhouse graduates will be expecting serious consideration despite a lack of experience?

Unlike another local television station in town, Channel 13 normally does not hire someone with little experience. And 13’s employee turnover rate is far better than their competitors.
 
Please don't let me be misunderstood...

I didn't say that they'd GET serious consideration. I just wondered how many EXPECT serious consideration.

This could be the first indication of the direction WHAM-TV will take under the ownership of Providence Equity Partners. It will be interesting to see whether they replace both departees, or only one, and what the quality of the new hire(s) will be.

I'm gonna take a bet that the same GA posting will be used to fill BOTH vacancies.

Even though Webb may have been "classified" as a medical reporter, I doubt most people would "notice" the absence of a health reporter. The networks provide health packages through their affiliate feeds. In most markets, the local anchor or reporter "doing" these stories is just revoicing the network package anyway. (I'm not saying that's what Webb did, but I'm saying that's what COULD be done after her departure.)

If the network can provide health content, why duplicate efforts when you can have another body on the street digging up real news?

Also consider that there are NO small market stations out there with a "dedicated" health reporter. Medium market openings are often filled by people moving up from small markets. If you don't have any health reporter applicants, it's gonna be tough to fill the position. Maybe they'll eventually take a GA reporter off the street and "groom" them to become a health reporter, but I doubt they'll be able to replace Webb at face value right off the bat.

Or maybe they'll take Webb's salary out of the budget and return it to the company's bottom line. Normally, I'd say it's a 50/50 chance... but with new ownership looming, I suspect the scales could be tipping slightly, in favor of cost-savings.

No, he worked at WBNG in Bingo before 13. He was an anchor/reporter/producer there.
