Looking for an Arrakis 500 SC console

The few Arrakis boards I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with seemed to draw a heck of a lot of current for some reason.

Anyone else noticed that?

If you feel the 5532 and 5534 op-amps inside, you will notice that they are all very warm. Arrakis runs them at 36V, which is the absolute maximum rating for the chip. Most others use 30 or 32V. Circuit loading may also contribute. That kind of heat production always kept me away from them, though I don't know if they were really more prone to failure than others.

And run one of these consoles with RF nearby and you'll be buying boatloads of these Op Amps. Arrakis boards under such conditions tend to need all the shielding help you can get and still give trouble often in such.

Been there, seen that. Also, if there's a lighting strike within close proximity, look for the output chips to go bye-bye and take you off the air.

Thanks for all the replies regarding my post of the Arrakis Console, I appreciate all the information provided regarding the Arrakis and other consoles.
Many thanks !
