Looking for...BRUCE HUGHES

-Bill Grady managed to dig this up. I did not know myself... -and do not have a date of this BLOG/posting...

From Jim Rose Remembers Radio

MICHAEL O'SHEA (Bellingham, WA) Jim…I’ve enjoyed some of the e-mail dialog regarding Bruce Hughes and Ted Agnew, both news stars at KLIF-1190 "back in the day". I was fortunate to work with both and become good friends with both. Bruce was brought in from Mississippi, as I recall, and was trained by literally one of the best "rock and roll news" guru’s, Brad Messer, circa ’68 or ’69. I’m saddened to hear of Bruce’s death. One of my recollections is upon my departure of KLIF (after 7 years) in the early 70’s when Bruce agreed to take my German Sheppard, Gretl, and provide a great home, as I was unable to take her to Florida when I left KLIF for Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. Bruce reported to me years later that she led a long and happy life on some acreage he had in suburban Dallas. He was a terrific talent, in the day when news-casters could be informers and entertainers. Ted Agnew was also a good friend and associate. Sincerely, Michael O’Shea, VP/GM Saga Communications, Bellingham, WA

Michael O'Shea on JRRR was from 2/4/2010.

Josh Holstead told you when you posted this in 11/2006: "Last I heard (and this was 1992) Bruce was living in Oklahoma and was making a living as a house painter. I'd love to hear from him too if he is still around."

Then in another JRRR dated 6/2009, from Bruce's KLIF co-worker Sam Lee: "Thanks for the note on Bruce Hughes. He was the brother I never had and we stayed close until his death."

I've got Sam Lee's email address...write me if you don't have it.

There are 32 Bruce Hughes's in the Social Security Death Index, but none of them were in TX or OK at the time of death. And this assumes that was his real name.

I talked to Bill Grady & my Mom last night. All believe that was indeed his real name. Hit me up w/ Sam's info and let's put this to bed, or find the fella. I would be nice to hear his is still among the living.

I seem to have misplaced your e-mail Mike. I must have deleted it after reading one of your e-rants :) so hit me up. [email protected]

Adios~ and hope to see you guys in Houston in a few weeks for TRHoF.
