Looking for call screener/ board op

Bluewater Broadcasting has an immediate opening for someone to screen calls and eventually do a little research and producing for its two local shows on WACV. Hours are 6a-12N M-F....entry level job with entry level pay. If you know someone who may be interested, please ask them to e-mail to [email protected] . Please put WACV Call Screener in the subject line. EOE. Thanks.

Its Montgomery....I started my little going nowhere radio career at that station in August of 1982...back then it was called WCOV and it was in the same building as Channel 20...which was a CBS affiliate way back then. WCOV radio had kind of an odd format back in those days....it was a big band station with lots of sports and news. George Landry and Joe Marcus were the two main DJ's. Fred Thompson and Clay Redden did news...and Bob and little ole me did the sports. Those were the good old days before satellite and syndication took over. Radio was radio. I was traveling all over the country calling the Auburn- Montgomery basketball games.. one season I went to Texas Tech and the University of Oklahoma plus Kentucky, Nashville, Orlando and New Orleans for games....Called a game at Xavier of New Orleans on a pay phone on the wall...the Montgomery Advertiser did a story on it.....I think about those days quite a bit.

I had the pleasure of interning there under Jon Kent, Tom Gardner and Don Markwell. That was back when Al Stroh owned the stations, Bill Morgan was there, the Lonman, Marty with the Party, Bear O'Brien, Ann Collister upstairs. IMO, the greatest bunch to work for and with in my career along with the Auburn Network. I loved it and learned a lot. I blame them for my being in radio this long. Terry Barber is right when he says that job is entry level, especially in pay. But if you are wanting to get your foot in the door and are serious about the business, that is a good place to start.

i'm suprised no one has called me out on this board (like in the past) after terry posted this.

i have sent an email off, although i probably won't be called even though this is right up my alley as a board op/producer.

good luck to who ever terry hires is all i have to say, although i wish i could atleast have a shot to bury any hatchets with terry.<P ID="signature">______________
