Hey Doug... Phil O'Bryan here. After 19 years away from Mississippi, I am back. I took the position of Mississippi Regional Manager for EMF Broadcasting back in December of last year. I am responsible for 5 stations (K-LOVE) in Mississippi... Jackson, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Greenville and Oxford.

Re: Looking for Hattiesburg Radio Alums... (I decreased the number of dots here)

With the name "Captain Boogie"...

We all knew it was YOU, Phil! :)

'Hey to Debbie. Craig tells me you come to Memphis periodically on EMF business. I'll buy lunch next time. There's a Belmont Grill within walking distance of the house, and, if you ask, when they fill your tea glass, they'll leave the pitcher!

Your former coworker, now educated beyond his intelligence,

It must be Peter! Well, I tried several other handles but they kept coming back "taken." I just reverted back to what many of the old gang still refer to me as... CAPTIAN BOOGIE. I'll tell Deb you said Hello. When we moved to Jackson she went back to school to change her specialty. She was just getting burned out on 20 years of ER. She'll be in school for the next 3 years. She says that she still doesn't know what she wants to do when she grows up. For now, I'm the bread winner for the family (2 kids 6 & 13). Residents don't make much you know. I don't get to Memphis very often. The closest I usually get is Oxford, where I have a station. I'll be sure to look you up the next time I'm in town. By the way, I can still put away a pitcher of tea!!! Where is Chris these days?

Oh, I forgot to tell you. I went back to school as well 3 years ago. I am in my last year of seminary. I'll graduate from New Orleans Baptist Theological next year (2007).

any of you guys remember a large happy guy named BYRON at triple X?
this would have been in the early to mid 60's..cannot remember his last name.that was a great sounding station in it's day..

Here's one doing pretty well:

R&R HAC PD/Year Nominees:
Scott Sands, WZPL/Indianapolis, Entercom
Barry McKay, WPTE/Norfolk, Entercom
Jeff McHugh, KRSK/Portland, Entercom
Ron Harrell, WDVD/Detroit, ABC
Jay Beau Jones, WXLO/Worchester, Citadel
Justin Chase, KMXB/Las Vegas, CBS

David Blair? Wow. You and I took a trip to St. Louis together back when you were PD at WFOR-AM in Hattiesburg, to bring some of your stuff down to Mississipi. I got to tour KSLQ as a part of that trip, and it was a real blast. We both worked for a sweetheart of a guy and a real air talent, Bill Hickman. I'll never forget hearing him walk up "When Will I See You Again" by the Three Degrees. It was so beautiful it just put me on the floor.

And Doug, if you're the guy who worked at WHSY, I think I came along after you left the market, but I can still remember hearing you on the air. In fact, I think we may have both dated the same female radio fan, in fact.
