Looking For Internet Soft AC Streams

New one I came across on Radionomy. Pretty good so far. http://www.radionomy.com/en/radio/mellowmusicradio/index

I think this one must be based in the UK. I've heard a lot of UK performers - both old and new - in the mix.

Some Radionomy stations go to a commercial break. Some go to an instrumental break. This is one that goes to an instrumental break every now and then. The instrumental break on this station consists of ambient music (New Age/lite techno).

Let me add Sam Smith after the American Music Awards. Assuming his performance on that show, without the unnecessary rap, sounds like what is on the radio. If it does, he could even be on America's Best Music.

I like some songs by Sam Smith.

The thing I hate about stations on Radionomy is that when one goes down due to tech issues, music from another stream will temporarily take it's place, and the temporary music doesn't match stylistically what's played on the regular station.

Another issue with Radionomy stations is that stations can be repetitive when they first start. From what I've heard, the stations are limited to a certain amount of music for their first couple of months.

SM95 is a good station, although I don't know if I would classify it as soft AC, since it's an amalgamation of different genres, including some older contemporary christian material. SM95 is based on the former format of WSM-FM in Nashville, which ran from approximately '76-'83. There have been several online versions of SM95 since the FM station dropped the format in '83. I know the guy who programmed (at least initially) this particular online version of SM95. Not to get off topic of this thread, and this is addressed to you, musiclover....since you mentioned SM95 has a "lot of obscure songs" within it, I am assuming that you're not too fond of that aspect of the station. Given these online soft AC stations you've sampled thus far, what are your feelings about their inclusion of obscure songs and if there comes a point when there is just too much non-hit material for your tastes? How do you feel about those kinds of tracks playing back to back and/or within a short period of time?

I did check out the Heaven on Air station you mentioned a few days ago. I liked that one as well. Also, you mentioned 181.FM Mellow Gold, which is another good station and tends to be a little more adventurous than some soft AC's out there. However, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), I'd probably give Mellow Gold a 9. :)

Side Note: Wow! I am listening to SM95 right now and they are playing Neil Diamond's "I'm Alive". I have that song on one of his old LPs here at my house, but I haven't heard it aired in what seems like forever. :)

I used to hear that one a lot on soft AC and I'm so glad I haven't heard it in years. I like a lot of his material but I didn't care for that one.

I don't mind obscure songs. I was thinking of others who might read here and decide to check out the station may be kind of picky about that.

I was first introduced to the song when David Cook covered it on American Idol (season 7). I enjoyed the song. Of course, I like some rock and not just soft rock.

I don't know where they got their information from but this Live365 AC station says the AC genre was referred to as Adult Standards. http://adultstandards.blogspot.mx/

From the artist list, it sounds more like soft AC, but the lines between adult standards and soft AC continue to blur over time, much to Chimp's dismay. ;)

This is another commercial-free Soft AC station I enjoy.
A few selections on this station are a bit edgier than the previous stations I listed in my previous posts.

This station has got me geeking out! They love themselves some of the American Idol alumni! They've been playing a couple of songs by Phil Phillips (season 11) and Daughtry (season 5). For Christmas, they play songs by Carrie Underwood (season 4) and Mandisa (season 5). They've updated the playlist with some new songs recently and now have a song in rotation by Danny Gokey (season 8).

In addition to the American Idol alumni, the station also plays some songs by the cast of Glee. Their latest song addition, which I heard earlier today, is a song by the cast of Fox's new drama show, Empire.

Link to listen to 30 second sample of the song: http://www.amazon.com/Conqueror-feat-Estelle-Jussie-Smollett/dp/B00TINOKLA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
