I am looking for a special song that Jack Armstrong would play
It is a Weird version of Hey Jude by the Beatles.
I e-mailed Craig Smith from sowny
And he used to have a copy
He said “I actually recorded the first time it was aired on 1050CHUM back in the Fall of 1968.
The reel to reel tape has become very brittle over the years and it's not saveable.I lent it to a friend who restores tapes all the time but I don't think he got anything out of it.
Too bad too. As I remember Jack spent a couple minutes on how he spent all night remixing then putting the "phasing" in.
Originally it was the first 7 minutes of the same old song then starting with the "better, better" the phasing kicks in and at the end of that is the last end of a day in the life, that long note!
I wish I still had that!”
during the long note it comes back with just Hey Jude with the echo.
I know Jack took the copy with him as he played it on WKBW 1520 Buffalo, I have a partial copy on a very bad quality aircheck from his last show on WKBW Feb 28,1973 and he also played it on a one time show for college station WNTC in Potsdam NY in April of 1970, when he was working for KTLK Denver, Jack also played it on WPOP Hartford as well as on 13Q in Pittsburgh.
I e-mailed Jack about it before he died, but he said he lost his copy in a hurricane in carolina.
I hope you can help me track down a copy of the song.
Thank You
