I stumbled across this site while inquiring about some of the DJ's from an old radio station I listened to in my teens. I lived in the Central Valley Calif. at the time. All my friends were listen to KJOY in Stockton, but I gravitated to KNBR in San Francisco. They were listening to the Kool Hits of the time and I was listening to the Comedy offerings and the mellow tunes in the evening hours. They got the Beatles and Beach Boys and I got Mancini, Mantovani and Mercer. I still 'hear' the intro... "Radio 68 by the Golden Gate, KNBR, San Francisco." and "The Morning Mayor", and of course the afternoon DJ who opened with, "Friend to those who want no friends." And the interview with Fred Biletnikoff. Fred used the term 'Ya Know' like most people used a period. My friend and I were listening to the interview as we were traveling down Charter Way in Stockton, CA. We began to count the number of times the phrase was used until we began laughing so hard we lost count. I referred to him as "You Know Biletnikoff" for so many years I couldn't remember his actual first name.
I found that radio station on a visit to California and couldn't believe what had happened to it. A great loss for the old style radio programs...
