Looking for RCA BC-7A console or parts for console

Way past my bedtime on a Saturday night.... ;)

But I do believe I have what you need in our (heated and air conditioned) shed.

The BC-7A the light blue console with the sloping front, early solid state amps? If so, we have a complete one, was working, I am told. We're in northern WV.
 
If you can't find what you need I may have the parts. I scrapped one out for my BC-7A. Is your board a BC-7A or BC-7B (there is a difference!). My BC-7 (that I restored) is the original on air console from KIIS-FM that Dees was going to quit over. Then they took the board from the production room and rebuilt it and the production room board became the legendary Dees console.
 
What!?! Dees has no sense of adventure. Just cuz the mic pre pops every time you key the mic, even with it potted all the way down, and you need to be wall-eyed to read the VU meters at the same time is no excuse to boat anchor a magnificent battleship! Or maybe it was that slap echo off the front panel....

Seriously, we gotta hear this story!

I know someone who has one of these beasts gathering dust in his basement. I saw it in person. He's not currently using it...maybe he'd give it to me on a long-term loan of sorts. Hmm.....

I love that old-school iron....
 
We had a couple of them in Tuscaloosa back in The Day... the versions which would allow stereo on four inputs by losing the AUD channel when you set the switch to Stereo. If memory serves, they were actually a vendor item from LPB. For a fun week, try replacing the MONO _ STEREO _ DUAL selector on the thing. You will learn proper soldering technuque, manual dexterity, and several new cursewords.
For balanced - buss consoles using step attenuators, the Autogram IC - 10 is the summum bonum of the genre. The Truly Suave made sure they had the Collins built version of it, which had the black Alondined module cans, rather than the nickle plated ones Autogram built in Plano. An audio proof on one which is performing properly is an eye - opener. They're capable of incredible performance considered the amount of iron in the audio path. Several folks made replacement modules for them which would, among other things, allow you to remove the output transfiormers if you wanted. The transformers though were made by an outfit called Leightner, and were the equal of a REP - 11. DC to blue light will go through them. Well, maybe not quite, but I remember Jack Sellmeyer showing me how to proof one, and we got 20hz to 22KHz through it within 1 dB.

Isn't that the same console that Rick uses in Kentucky?
 
I have an IC-10 taking up space in my office. Cosmetically pretty good looking except for fingernail dings on the inserts of the pots--needs some electronic work. I am sure I can get the guy who owns it to let it go if the offer is right. You will need to pick it up...I am in northern WV, 2 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh/Columbus.
 
Is that IC-10 out of Plano or Richardson? (What color the module cans?)
And, how's it populated?

How bad you want it outa your office if I have someone come get it?
 
Black cans, for the most part. Only had three program amps, I have two silver-can amps (spares from an 8 channel I sold a while back). The input cans are the Henry balanced amps, with one mike preamp. Output transformers are the Leightners. Send me your e-mail and I'll send you some pics in a few days.

As I mentioned, not mine. Looking at the console for a possible new studio for local h.s. non-com, but after I played with it, I recommended they go for grant for new console. Which they did.
 
I HAVE AN RCA BC-7a. it was removed from a local university and said to be in working order.
It has 3 mic pre modules 2 line pre modules i have spare amps i purchased later.
I'll had planned on posting on ebay this month.

I know SAS had them reproduced for the Dees Digital Audio Console - perhaps they can turn you on to whom they had manufactured them
 
Contacted them. They are not interested in producing anymore.

I'm presently checking with some Asian countries to see if they can duplicate them. I hate like heck to go out of the country, but if nobody stateside wants to make them I don't see the harm is buying elsewhere.

You know another product no longer made? The Switchcraft series 11000 and 13000 key switches. According to the sales engineer at Switchcraft, they have no market for them.

Man.... trying to build retro is getting hard!
 
Are these the same as on the old BC 6?

I have one pristine brand new-in-RCA-box and wax paper original I would/could lend as a model.

I could contact the people at Antique Electronic Supply in Tempe AZ. They have done other old knobs.

Yeah. It's a bummer. Everything now depends on micro switches, keypads, touch screens and tiny toggle switches. Gotta love miniaturization, sometimes even removing a simple jack from a PC Board has become a hassle. :-\
