I suppose it depends on the equipment in question, but most modern gear is not really 600 ohms on the inputs. Usually inputs are "balanced bridging" and are on the order of 10-15 K ohms. On the other hand, most active balanced outputs are usually OK to load down to 150 ohms or so. You can parallel a lot of balanced bridging inputs off of the output of most modern devices without any adverse effects, with the possible exception of a ground loop. If you telescope the grounds, those problems usually disappear a well.
Of course, if we are talking equipment with real 600 transformers in it, then it is hard to defeat Ohm's Law.
