Looking for stereomaxx schematics

Hi guys,

I am still looking for the stereomaxx manual. The one in the usermanual is blurred out on purpose.
I have a non working unit which needs repair.

Can someone help providing me with the schematics?

Hi,
I have the schematic somewhere,i scanned it some time ago, just need to find it.

PS,I assume you could not locate an IDT stereo encoder ?

Paul.

Hi Paul,

You need to contact modulomaxx, he's somewhere around on this forum.
I cannot get in contact with him. I am sure he can help you with the IDT coder.

@Bill
You are my hero! These are clean and crisp schematics.
My Maxx has some opamps which are quitte hot and the stereopath is distorted. I am quitte shure i can solve the issue now.

Many thanks.

Evert

Hi Bill,
Yes i did send you a scan of the Stereomaxx,i forgot about that !

Evert,
I remember a while ago sending a message to Modulomaxx, but got no reply.
I have just sent him a pm,i will see if i can get a response over the next week or two, otherwise i will probably put the processor on ebay for sale.

Thanks,
Paul.

Is it a IDT Sound Style or a Sound Design ? Let me know if you're about to sell it.

The processor is a Sound design.
I will probably end up selling it as it does not sound promising that i cannot get hold of the stereo encoder for it.

I have managed to contact ModulomaXX,so i will leave it a few weeks to see if i can obtain the encoder card.

stha,do you need spares for yours ?

I have the Sound Design manual v2.80 in .pdf but it's in French. My printed English version is not scanned and it's not easy to do it at this time. Let me know if I can help.
I sold my SD 4.01 recently, I could have some interest in a Sound Style but at very low price. My SD was complete with the encoder card but you can have no regrets because it's better to use the SD as first/mid stage processor...

I have the english manual on pdf.
I am surprised that you would use the processor as a pre-processor or mid processor as the multiband limiters have clippers on each band.
I would have thought you would have to back off the drive to these clippers for pre processing.

The reason i wanted the stereo encoder for the processor is for 2 main reasons, the IDT encoder has 15k filters as well as software based settings to keep it all in house,so to speak.

I have a BW Digilog encoder that has 15k filters and post clippers that could do a similar job,but no software control.

BTW,i am also looking for a 8200 stereo encoder,to convert a tv 8282 optimod to fm optimod.

Depending on your market. The SD is an old design. To me, the final clipping/overshoot stage is not the most competitive against today's boxes. Too, my SD became very unstable with years because some parts are drying very fast. It's a nightmare to connect with today's PC's. Any control is available to the user, you can do the best but most of the time I eared the worst... But this processor have a very special sonic signature and I loved it for years.

A long time ago, I asked Orban how to upgrade a 8282 to a real 8200 with a stereo encoder, it's very hard because the 8282 chassis have no holes in the front for the encoder card controls (these controls are not software) and same for the BNC at the other side. Also, you'll have to upgrade the filter board because it has additional components than 8282 (the 8282 manual is somewhere wrong and showing a 8200 card !). To finish, the control board is not compatible for PC remote if used with a 8200 firmware. The total price for all the parts in 2003 was $1630. As Orban said to me at this time, you'd be better off to sell the 8282 as an 8282, and purchase
a good-condition used- or refurbished 8200.

Yes the SD does have a distinct sonic sound !

On converting the 8282 to a 8200,it is no real problem.
The cutouts for the stereo encoder controls can be drilled without much fuss, also the bnc sockets are not too much trouble, may be because i do some metal work for time to time so have the tools.

The control card is compatable with the 8200 software module provided you just change the crystal, that is all you need to do !
I have done this before no problem.
