Looking for tips / ideas / suggestions /answers on proposing mix show to station

Hello -

I'm looking for some advice on submitting a mix show to a radio station. I am moving to a semi large market and want to get a mix show on the local top-40 station.

First though, what are your thoughts on how mix shows could be improved? I'm talking about a top-40 dance/remix type show that has a club feel to it. I know there are many out there so I'm trying to find a unique angle.

Second: When I submit, and I know it's going to take persistence on my part, what's the best way? I've heard of people doing some outrageous things to get noticed.

Third: How should I submit? Sending in a CD? MP3 over the internet?

Also, any tips on doing this? I've had a live mix show in the past and have had guest spots in the Phoenix market, but never had actually gone for my own show.

Thanks

2. Naked women. And an elephant, yes an elephant would definately get you noticed.

3. Hard to get the elephant over the internet.

No, no, no. Use a donkey. Democrats have trained the donkeys to pose on the internet. You can get a used one cheap. And when that sucker starts braying about 10:30 at night.... you will get noticed!

Broadcasters are only interested in programming that attracts listeners that advertisers will pay to reach. Show the prospective station how they can sell the audience your show will attract. Show them how ad sales increased on the previous shows in which you participated.

I'm sure you're not interested in having us for an affiliate, since we'd like the show for free (all my shows are). I do occasional work with a locally-owned radio group. We could be the 'farm system' for you...if they hear the show (the station is monitored there, as they 'mentor' us), perhaps they would be interested. Please PM.
