Looking for WKAP Pictures

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone had any old WKAP pictures, specifically ones that include the flashing sign that hung at the station back in the day. I currently own that sign and was just looking for a picture of it hanging in all its glory to go along with it.

Thanks,
Jarret Brown

hey jarret,

one better yet how about pix of kappy's funmobile...that was the trailer they would haul to remotes and do live broadcasts. i remember it being white with red letters. what a hoot... i remember les baer doing some of the remotes and hearing them in the late 60's early 70's. that was well b4 your time you youngster.

I don't know if he has a picture of the sign, but a great source of photos especially from The Super K era, is Walt Brown a.k.a Walt Brosman, who still lives and works outside the industry in "the valley"; he took all the pictures when he worked there 1972-1976, and he's on Facebook!

I've got several cool old pics...I just have to get time to scan them in. I a-l-m-o-s-t came back to the valley just a few years ago to program The Cat...but John Fraunfelter and I couldn't come to all the terms we needed to. Would have been fun to be back home. Maybe someday!

play 'where's chris bailey' and i'll bet you'll find a ton of stuff about WKAP and the early days...........

Where is Chris Bailey? I hope he didn't fall off the edge of our great planet.

I have some old WKAP pix on my Facebook page under Michael McKenna . I was also known as DJ Mike Jacobs - Studio 13 Show WKAP in 1979

I remember meeting Chris Bailey for the first time shortly before his air shift when he was doing overnights at WKAP. He took me out to the station lobby, turned over the cushions on the black leather coach, and proceeded to "name the stains" on the cushions while telling in vivid detail the events leading up to his prized collection. True story.

I also visited Chris Bailey when he was doing the overnights. I was surprised when he offered me a beer! (I'm posting this with the understanding that the statue of limitations has long since expired!)
