Good work WB. That was such a childish mascot for a real network. Next step would be to get rid of that awful, childish logo. When I look at WPIX I can't help but shudder at the childish logo next to the "11"...makes their newscast look like it might be for kids. I associate WB with kids programming, especially their current logo.

Did you know that that song was written especially for
the cartoon in which Michigan J. Frog made his one and
only appearance, One Froggy Evening? It sounds like an
authentic 1890s ragtime number. And he does do one real
Gay '90s hit: "Hello My Baby." (Information from Leonard
Maltin's book "Of Mice and Magic.")

Actually, this news shouldn't come as much of a surprise. WB's been de-emphasising its mascot for some time.

Now, what if they had recruited Taz?

I haven't seen em. And what of the other vulcans from Trek? I think I saw Tuvok holding a spare change sign near Harvard Square the other day? And lets hope T'Pol doesn't need to start working the street soon!

Actually, Michigan J. Frog isn't dead. The WB has decided
to can him in primetime because the median age of its viewership
is 35, and many adults perceive the network as a kids' network
because of his presence.

However, according to this morning's USA Today, the WB will
still use him as its Kids WB mascot. That is going to expand
to five hours on Saturday mornings when the network drops its
afternoon kids' shows in favor of reruns of shows like ER.

I wonder if one of the Froggy radio stations out there would like to hire him?
