From their website"

The following transactions are currently pending:

approximately $3.0 million;

These are old transactions, where have you been?

Not only that, I told you that they were safe a couple of months ago when they hired Tim Hartlage. They will give him substantial time to turn things around there.

LOL, DUH!

Safe...for now! Salem is looking to get out, not buy! Louisville does okay, but its not a core biller for the company.

If anything, they may try to get rid of one of the AM/FM combos the cluster currently has to just help trim the fat off the edges. Kinda like they have in Cleveland/Youngstown and other markets.

However, if someone like Cumulus walks in with a check, dont think that Ed is going to look the other way. He would sell if the price is right!

"ONE OH FIVE NINE THE RIVER, safe for the whole family... for now"

Gimme a break. IF Salem sells, they won't sell ALL the stations.

If you threw money at Ed and said, I want Louisville...

You seriously think he will say, but its my favorite little market. I want to hold it and nurture it for growth and prosperity. I want to make it look pretty.

NO! He is going to say, how much you offering? You give him a price, and he will say...HERE IS WHAT I HAVE!

He has to balance the sheet, just like you and me. Seriously!

That would happen with any company, not just Salem!

I can't understand your desire to see Salem Louisville sell. You're really hung up on it. I'm left with the impression that someone there screwed you over. Look, if it still burns when you pee go see a doctor. But I think its time to get over it and move on.

Ah, I dont have issues with Salem or Salem Louisville. Personally, I think Salem is an honorable company. Im looking at it from the angle of what markets make money, what markets have potential. Its that way of thinking that gets me to my conclusion on SL.

I have been in broadcasting long enough to know that NOBODY is safe, everybody has their price and EVERYTHING is for sale for the right price. Someone came in and offered Salem $20 million for this cluster and baby it's GONE.

20! I'd think 8 or 10 would do it.

Possibly. I'm just saying that everything (and every one) has their price. Nothing is really safe in this industry anymore.

Isnt that true! I was working with an investment group who wanted to buy a couple of stations in Salt Lake. We approached a cluster and said, we want this AM and this FM you currently own. They said, ah..well they really arent for sale. So the investor wrote a figure down on the table, and guess what. They were sold the next morning!

That's my point. Anything is for sale at anytime for the right price. The owner of that cluster told you that they were not for sale just to see how serious you and your group were. These companies that are in trouble will sell a cluster to make a few million that would make the bottom line look better. Remember, radio is run one quarter at a time.
