Looks like the "Commander and Chief" may have to resign...

Unfortunately, I think the show is dying a not so slow death. I know there were some back office reasons for the long hiatus, but being off the air for several months didn't help it any, and neither did the time change.

What I've found over the last couple of years is that with the fewer number of new episodes offered, and the resulting explosion of reruns of recently run episodes, I no longer care much about most of the shows on TV, and I've always considered myself a TV addict. It's tough to get "invested" in the drama of CIC once you haven't seen it for 2 months, assuming you can even find it in its new time.

Did you notice they actually had to remind us who each of the players were in the beginning, so we'd have at least some clue as to what was going on? While necessary, IMO, the fact that it is necessary is really pretty sad.
Edited by MichaelE on 04/16/06 04:00 AM.

Putting it up against Without A Trace and ER wasn't the best thing either. And changing time slots and putting it "on hiatus" so to speak didn't help much at all. Looks like Geena Davis might go back to making movies again so more than likely that Commander In Chief may be coming to an end.

Re: Looks like the "Commander in Chief" may have to resign...

I've noticed that ABC is now promoting the hell out of the program, so perhaps there is hope the show will be renewed for another season. Just because last week's episode pulled in fewer viewers than normal doesn't mean the program is ready for the scrap heap. Remember the show was on hiatus for a few months plus the fact the show was moved from its Tuesday night slot to Thursday. However I wonder why ABC executives took one of their most watched shows and put it on the shelf for such a long period of time? Doesn't make sense does it?

In Other Show News...

I'm not sure if UPN and CW executives are going to have much patience over Veronica Mars, either. Placing the show after America's Next Top Model didn't help, and now it's tanking badly on Tuesday night. And, since the show has a continuing storyline, that will make it harder to attract new viewers.

By the way, Veronica Mars has only been airing new eps on Tuesday night for ONE week now. UPN airs the repeat still on Wednesday night, where the show had been airing new shows until just the other week.

I'll see how she does on the CW next season before passing final judgement.
