Both Inside Radio & Radio Info are reporting that Larry Wilson..the creator of Citadel..one of the people who are directly responsible for the sad state that radio is in today has gotten back into radio station ownership. It seems that Larry got tired of pretending that he was really Ben Cartwright and left his Montana ranch to go and pick up 2 Portland, Oregon radio stations for 11 million bucks. It leaves you to wonder how long it will be before he once again starts to create radio mischief on a much larger scale. Please say it isn't so!
 
Larry Wilson was indeed the mastermind behind Citadel. And while he made choices that sadly weakened the company, Larry's primary weakness was the band of idiots with whom he selected to surround himself. Citadel's flaw was not a result of Larry directly, it was the VP's and regional managers that have resulted in the sad state that had become Citadel.

And while I don't believe that he ever really understood the true intricacies of broadcasting, Larry hired managers that should have known better.

Larry's true flaw was his ego. The cojones to phone the local owners in a market and make absurd offers of 18-32 X cash flow for their stand alone class A FM.

Larry was the visionary. He dreamed big and tried to deliver on that aspiration. Perhaps great things shall come to Alpha Broadcasting from lessons learned.

My two pieces of advice to Larry would be to change the name. Alpha Broadcasting is a radio and television operator in Kennesaw, GA. And when you're selecting the new name, DON'T decide on a name because of the logo that you want to use for the company. Company name first, logo second.

Glad you like the creep. I hope he drowns hook, line and sinker..and we never hear from him again! Maybe while he's drowining, he can take the likes of the Hogans, the Dickeys & Farid with him.
 
Say what you will about Larry....but when he owned Citadel the stock
was trading at at $25.00 a share; in fact thats where he sold it at.
A far cry from where it is now.
I will tell you Larry knows how to operate
"profitable" radio stations. Maybe he can buy all of Citadel back (Cheap)
