Playing pop music more than hip-hop in the last year drove their ratings down big time (from as high as 4.2 in Summer 08, when they were okay still, to as low as 2.2 last month, playing more pop). There are two Top-40 stations in Sacramento already, and KBMB thinks they can compete? Yeah right. They don't care about the listeners and doing this for payola. There will be another hip-hop station in Sacramento soon that will have all local on-air DJs, real hip-hop and R&B all day in daily rotation, maybe some mainstream music (but not much), hot mixshows, especially on Friday/Saturdays till 3 or 4am (not midnight), playing local music, and no national sydicated shows. That is my wish list, but we'll see.
KMEL anyday online (since I live in Sac), even though they play a lot of R&B. But they still have good moments when they play the real West Coast music. Also, Hot 97 online is a good alternative, especially the mixshows.kilamanjero said:Oh hell, oh well! KBMB was garbage. My first cousin is a North California native and she said she would always listen to KMEL over KBMB any day because they were whack.
Funny thing is KSFM for the first time is playing a bit more hip-hop than 103.5, especially the classics that KSFM usually plays during Club 102. And, even 106.5 The Buzz plays more hip-hop than 103.5. I guess for now, KSFM (sorta) and 106.5 The Buzz (sorta) will play some hip-hop in Sacramento.musicman3355 said:The station was trash anyway. Even Jam'n 94.5 sounds much better (but they're much like a KSFM though).
The station was bad due to being owned by Entra-lack-of-vision. They can't make a good station.
JAMN 94.5 From a Garbage Truck to a Garbage can, Yeah 94.5 sound ( smell ) a little better.musicman3355 said:The station was trash anyway. Even Jam'n 94.5 sounds much better (but they're much like a KSFM though).
