Looped messages on 99.1, 101.5

Not sure how long these have been running but 99.1 has a looped message: legal ID then one announcer promoting about 6 stations (Frank 106.3, The Hawk 104.9, WEMJ Hometown Talk 1490) etc. And 101.5
has a shorter one mentioning how the Hawk has moved to 104.9, but that and the calls/COL is just about it.
Not sure how long these will run, and what new formats will be.
I live on Boston's North Shore but today was going from Concord to Lebanon, and then home from there

New Brand...LOOPY RADIO. The station's owners are hoping to hit the market formerly served by Citadel's Timelessly whatever that was, with old music. Hit the generation with short term memory issues.

Yes after I made the post I looked up WNNH 99.1 in Wiki and it referred to a Fybush column about 99.1 doing the loop by Nov, and I thought I heard about the Hawk's move, but this is a pretty long time to run such a loop and I didn't know if there were rumors about what would land on those freqs.

I really don't see the point in this, it's simply a waste of power at this point. I can see why they don't want to sign the stations off, but if your gonna keep them on atleast simulcast a sister station for the time being!

Exactly. How much could it cost to simulcast the signal-challenged WEMJ? Do something with them or shut them down.

I realize you just told us that, but I forgot; can you repeat it? <cough> ROFL

Why would they want to put any of their regular programming on a signal they're getting rid of soon? All it would do is siphon listeners away from 1490, who may stay with whatever Jeff Shapiro does with the signals once he takes ownership.

Pure speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that the sales contract called for the stations to remain on the air (certainly something I'd insist on if I were buying a signal, especially given how long this deal is taking to close). OTOH, if I were selling a station, I wouldn't want to do anything that might attract listeners to a signal that will soon be a competitor. Hence the loops sending listeners to their other properties. Not sure why they're not doing the same with 102.3 though.

Sheesh, you'd think after 25 years in the business you'd have figured that out.

I'll say this much...I can't wait to see how the issues/programs lists for those 2 stations will be worded.
What I HAVE figured out is speculation doesn't answer the question of why the loop has been on so long, although it's a damn good guess.

I can only assume that back in November they thought a change in ownership was imminent so they decided to try and kill the formats and drive listeners to their remaining properties. I don't think that they thought they would lose 3-4 months of potential billing back then!
I also think the deal is close to being done now that WFNQ has finally moved.

So does this establish some sort of record as the sale that took the longest to complete?
