Lopez Tonight Cancelled?

It's been a while since Lopez Tonight has been on.

There have been some sporting events pre-empting the show, but now I see that just regular programs are in the 11pm spot that Lopez occupied.

He is on hiatus or is the show cancelled?

Gives new meaning to the phrase "Thank God It's Friday," doesn't it?

I haven't seen him at 11pm lately. And you mean the first show isn't bad enough that the network has to repeat it at 2 AM? ::)

My prediction stands: Lopez Tonight will be history by spring 2010.

North of the border, Telelatino has the rights...weeknights at 11 ET, replayed next day at 10am (and yes, George Lopez Show re-runs precede the evening run :D).

I think Nick should counter-program "LT" with "Lopez" sitcom reruns again, just like they did that one time, and beat TBS. That was funny. ;D

Here's a theory on why the show repeats 3 hours later (and this applies to many cable shows in general) --

Satellite providers offer only the East Coast feed of TBS (as far as I know). This means that, in satellite homes, the initial airing of Lopez Tonight is at 8pm Pacific Time. The program is designed to air right after broadcast primetime ends -- 11pm Eastern, 10pm Central (and this is how it's promoted.) In order to make this work in the Pacific Time Zone, the program repeats at 2pm Eastern, which is 11pm Pacific.

Viewers to TBS-HD, regardless of whether they have satellite or cable, have the same issue. There is no West Coast feed of TBS-HD.

Of course, as usual, none of this applies to viewers in the Mountain Time Zone. The program airs at either 9pm (right in the middle of broadcast prime) if you have satellite or are watching TBS-HD, or it airs at Midnight (two hours after broadcast prime ends) if you are watching the regular TBS on cable & your cable system takes the West Coast feed.

It sure would be nice if cable providers, particularly in the Mountain Time Zone, could "time shift" programming -- the way that local broadcasters do -- so that programs air in their intended time period(s).

Rather than create a new thread, I thought it would be opportune to resurrect this one since, with this development, it appears that "Lopez Tonight" is indeed one step closer to cancellation should things not pan out after this move: They have brought in Robert Morton as the new executive producer, relieving Mike Gibbons of his duties, as well as Jim Paratore to an extent:

Sorry if some people may disagree with me but I've watched "Lopez Tonight" and I just don't find the show to be entertaining. I read somewhere where Lopez's cancelled sit-com on another network was getting higher ratings than his current talk show

Spot on.
I have Dish Network and live in the LA area, so obviously everything on the east coast feeds play earlier so this adds convince to people who want to be able to watch something at the time it's designated to be presented at.
TBS does this with LT and Food Network does it with their "Nighttime" programming.

Lopez Tonight is an absolute piece of late night garbage. You would expect an experienced and successful comedian to be good at a monologue right? Well, his monologues don't touch on any current events and he basically recites one of his many "when I was a kid..." stories from his standup specials. He might throw in a current event happening every once in a while, but then he throws in his commentary using the phrase "See, us Latinos..." He's also a very very awkward interviewer (which is expected) but after these few months, he still hasn't improved. His bits are usually bad ripoffs of Leno's (he even does a Jaywalking style bit) and the show is truly unwatchable. At least his sitcom wasn't. Everybody says that TBS gave Conan the right to produce a show in the 12 o'clock spot and he might be putting that into use a few months into his show being on the network...

If you liked his sitcom then you will LOVE his talk show.
I couldn't stand either and would rather watch a pie bake in the oven, leaves fall from a tree, moss grow on a rock........you get the picture.
