Loren Nancarrow (KGTV San Diego)

I was flipping by Mississippi Public Broadcasting this morning and came across a show called "Garden Rx", hosted by Loren Nancarrow. I had no idea he had a gardening show. How long has it been on the air?<P ID="signature">______________

Apparently this was a one-shot program, primarily designed to air during pledge weeks. The fact sheet from American Public Television says it was produced this year.

Nancarrow is, in case you were unaware, the author of three books on gardening:
"Dead Snails Leave No Trails", "The Worm Book" and "Dead Daisies Make Me Crazy".

I've met Loren several times at Union meetings here in SD.

He is a former weather reader from the CBS-TV affiliate, KFMB. He left the station at the same time Hal Clement did and ended up on KGTV (ABC). It is interesting the KFMB is the only AFTRA station in town left and they jumped over to Ch. 10 on PS contracts. KFMB has gotten rid of all of the legacy reporters and brought in a whole cadre of DippityDo young'ens who are at best more apt to be found on a college TV station rather than at a network affiliate. This all happened about the time KFMB-AM dropped their radio news department and started airing rough sounding audio clips from TV news. It is funny to hear their weather guy Matt Balow sign off as "Matt Balow, Local 8 News" rather than "760 KFMB News."

Loren is definitely a San Diego TV news legacy kind of guy.
