Los Angeles and Inland Empire PPM for June 2011

102.3 KJLH is at a 1.0 probably because of Steve Harvey

93.5 KDAY 1.5(Great music so they deserve it)

KHHT Hot 92.3 3.0 I guess their Mega 92.3 direction is working but why the heck is it still billed as Urban AC when they're mainily playing R&B music from 1969-2001/02?

KPWR Power 106 at 3.7 still top rated.

KIIS is the real winner along with KFI. AMP and KOST are doing very good. KTWV is ahead of KHHT. Spanish oulets KXOL and KXOS seem to be stuck at a 1. share. I wondering how are those 2 billing?

Half a point between them 12+. Wonder what the demos look like.

25-54 it's KLOS 13th and KSWD 20th, with 0.8 apart... KLOS has about a third more audience than KSWD there.

18-49 KSWD 25th, KLOS 20th. Still same large separation.

Any chance Bonneville might consider a format flip from classic rock to news/talk to boost their 18-49 or 25-54 numbers? 25 and 20 seem pretty low.

Change "100.3 The Sound" back to "100.3 The Beat". Maybe KJLH will go back to Urban AC. Just a thought LOL ::)

Bonneville doesnt like Urban music or formats. Only thing close to Urban they had was WILV 100.3 in Chicago a few years back Love FM. Technically a Rhythmic AC station back in the mid 2000's didnt cause a increase in ratings or anything

THis market is now 44% Hispanic, 8% African American, 12% Asian and about 10% foreign-born who are neither Asian nor Hispanic (Persian, Russian, etc.) and these are groups that underutilize talk and news talk in English.

Even on FM, unless you are in DC, news or news based formats on FM are not terrific 18-49 performers. Usually, it's necessary to have a successful AM news talk station already, and then simulcast or move it to FM to increase the 40-54 delivery. Startups are not always successful... look at Minneapolis... and sometimes, though, they are... look at New Orleans and Pittsburgh.

Wow 98.7 is only .2 away from KROQ now which is at a 2.6.

18-49 they are almost a point apart, with KROQ in the lead, same in 25-54.

More than likely due to Rick Dee's return to radio. For us into radio we know the show is dull and lame but to other people mainly women who listen to KIIS in the 80's and 90's that love Rick Dee's they are glad hes back. I notice when they did their Hot 500 over the 4th of July weekend it was the same one from New Years Eve 2010 when currents were in rotation. It was edited of course because of Victor's departure.

I don't listen to Rick Dees in the morning though.

Nobody asked if you did listen. Just stating with adding Rick their ratings are somewhat approving. Of course your not gonna listen its not in your demo.

I'm glad to see that. These L.A. folks grew up with Rick Dees so I understand why KHHT is at it's high because he is one of those L.A. radio veterans.

If you take out morning drive (Kevin & Bean) how do the 2 stations compare?

Seriously, how do these two stations compare when you take morning drive out of the equation? Last I heard, K&B were the number one morning show, 25-54 but they hardly represent the rest of the day's programming. Taking AM drive out of the mix would give us a better idea of which station is winning the programming battle. C'mon! I'm curious here!

KROQ is ahead of KYSR by about 15% in 10 AM to Midnight, M-F. The last two books have been closer than the prior two books.

The interesting thing is that the KYSR cume rating in 10 AM to 12 AM is now higher, although not by much, than that of KROQ (Cume Rating is the % of all people in the demo the station reaches).

What KROQ has going for it is the fact that most ad buys are based on 6 AM to 7 PM, M-F. So on that comparison they are definitely ahead of KYSR.
