Just had an idea. I would be thrilled if I and others on here could meet each other in person maybe at a restaurant. What does everyone think?

I think david e lives in palm springs so it might be a difficult drive for him. But everyone else I think live in LA unless I'm wrong

It's a drive I made at least 40 weekends a year for 15 years while the La Quinta house was for vacations and weekends. I am so used to it, I still kept my dentist and a few other contacts in LA. And most of the family is in the OC/Whittier area.

I'm still not ready to venture out to a group setting out of an excess of caution (and "years in service"). But it would be fun and if it is enjoyable, RadioDiscussions gatherings elsewhere might be promoted. We could even see about a guest speaker later, such as a well known PD or engineer. (There is this guy over at KROQ starting this week I know we'd love to hear from...)

Sounds like a great idea! I'm in Seal Beach so anywhere in the LA area would work for me.
A Saturday would avoid traffic, and perhaps somewhere to the East of the central zone off the 10 or the 60 would be ideal... not too far from the San Fernando Valley, close enough to the OC and the West SIde, and so on.

A group of radio aircheck collectors/historians had similar annual gatherings pre-pandemic at the Fuddrucker’s in Burbank (now closed).

Don Jennett, Norm Garr, Bill Earl and Jeffrey Leonard were regulars and most years, L.A. jocks from the ”good old days” would show up—-Ken Levine (Beaver Cleaver), M.G. Kelly, Sam Riddle, Jim Carson are the ones I saw pictures of.

Don invited me, but I wasn’t able to go. All indications are everyone had a good time.

What about K.M. Richard. I wonder what his thoughts would be on my idea. K.M. is very knowledgeable about radio
If I did, it would need to be at an outdoor venue. As I advised James when he DM'd me on the idea, I have a medical condition which is kept under control with a drug that partially suppresses my immune system. I stay home a lot and normally only venture out for doctor appointments, grocery shopping, and picking up prescriptions ... and even though I stick to hours at the market and pharmacy when the number of shoppers is relatively low I still wear a mask. Although I am used to wearing it, if I have to wear it for prolonged periods of time it becomes uncomfortable (in part because it has a layer of HEPA filter which after a while takes its toll on ease of breathing). Outdoors, I can more safely function without it.

So I'll say "maybe" with conditions.
