How long will entravision be satisfied with 103.1‘s numbers? I think there’s room for a dedicated classic alternative channel. If they can team up, who’s not iHeart media, sales wise, they can get back in the game, and trim some shares from kroq and 98.7

This will not happen. Not enough available shares to make a go of it . All Taylor Swift Radio is much more feasible.

They sell a combo of the two stations. It gives them a better position for Hispanic buys.

Alone, as a Class A with very limited coverage, it would have no impact on KROQ and 98.7 and not have high enough numbers to get on agency buys... and no 3rd place in any format will get any buys in this market.

On the other hand, most Spanish language Hispanic buys are done as if this was a separate market. Separate budgets and much deeper buys to cover nearly all the stations and format subsets. They can bill vastly more money as a combo with their other station (simulcast, actually) in the Spanish language arena than as a very low rated station in a format that advertisers don't like as much as others.

If they comboed for sales, they would give up a large commission amount that they keep with their own Hispanic rep organization.

All Taylor Swift -- or, in fairness, all-Beyonce, or all-Olivia, all-Justin, all-Kanye or all-whoever -- might be a solid idea *now*, but what about in six months? A year? A station that depends on one particular artist is always at the mercy of that artist. Did they put out a new album that bombed? Did they say something stupid that got them a crapload of bad press, bad social media, bad karma? (Think John Lennon's infamous "The Beatles are more popular than Jesus" as a particularly notorious example. And there's no shortage of other foot-in-the-mouth comments to choose from.) So even if all-Taylor becomes a hit, what's its shelf life?

It wasn't an actual suggestion, just to make a point.

Class A indeed, 103.1 is just like 93.5, 95.9, 96.7, 102.3, 103.9 etc, all "invisible" in the SFV yet marketed as if they were "LA" stations.
