Los Coco Clásicos 4 hours is shrinking to 2 hours on X96.3

Los Coco Clásicos del Domingo by Sundays will be heard at 10AM-12PM and will no longer be heard at 2-6PM on X96.3.

And Alipio Coco Cabrera, thank you for the new Sunday schedule. You're the great King of Radio and El Coco Coro of all time.

And like I said, old tropical is dying because it may lose enough audience for their sponsors and people wants new music for their generations with a little bit of old skool.

Salsa in Puerto Rico is now almost all 45 and over in appeal. Checking the demographics of La Zeta, "the world's first all salsa FM", we se it has nearly no 18-34 listening and very little 18-49.

Since salsa appeals primarily to older demos, why do X96.3 and La Mega 97.9 still play lots of it?
Selected songs, yes. But shows that are all-salsa, no. One thing is for Alex Sensation to do a salsa mix among his different and widely varied song choices and another is to do 12 or so salsa and merengue songs an hour.

Coincidentally, its competitor, Salsoul, may have extended its lifespan by becoming a personality talk station and making that the main focus of the station.

Ironically, they tried adding reggaetón music to the playlist during the 2000's, but lost partisans and had to go back to all-salsa.

Yes, I did that over 20 years ago, but it was a gradual transformation and not done all at once.

And that was after I was involved, but salsa and reggaetón really don't mix.
