Lost Gems

Fellow posters,

I pose this question to further enlighten my knowledge of the stations not mentioned in the Arby's that are nice, little gems that have little or no market representation.

For example, I used to listen to the Lake when it was the lake when I drove home to Augusta and I was passing through Lake Oconee. I've seen posts about a station in Helen, Dallas, Tom Taylor mentioned the tower upgrades for "The Wolf" (I think, been up all night (night shift)), and a couple of stations up in Rome. I want to know what else is out there, and is there a good directory that can help me with that, or is it the best way (and just about the only way if you don't live in the area and channel-surf) to just find out by word of mouth?

I thank you very much for your input.

It's 92.5...."The Bear".... located in south Atlanta. Plays Moby in the morning drive and Jones CD country the rest of the day. It can be heard sporadically throughout the area but is strong south of I-20.

Hey Tom, how about your buddies at the other stations on the southside down the I-85 corridor.

Last I checked we were still on the air. You are still our engineer right? :D

I was just correcting the mistake FloydB made about the Bear......
You is my fav-o-rite morning slugg Uncle Rich.....gawd knows wez luvs ya!! And Benji too!!

You know me, I ain't too proud to beg. I wish we could get the buzz Chuck is getting. (Well deserved)

Simple jealousy on my part.

Thanks, Tom. I was have major mental flatulence when I was writing my original post. But, of course, I have the attention span of a gnat, too.

Dick, what's your station down that way? Is it in LaGrange or Newnan?

Seriously, guys, I'm really curious. There's so many stations out there that's right under our noses and they don't even get an honorable mention. We need to show our love, and have something positive on the board for once.

Thanks for asking. WMGP Magic 98.1 a mix/classic rock format , WGSE AM 720 Talk, WCOH AM 1400 classic country.

Magic and 720 towers are Hogansville and serve both Lagrange and Newnan. WCOH is a 1000 watt heritage serving Newnan and Coweta County.

I have been with these stations since 1986 all the way back to when Dallas Tarkenton owned them. His son Chuck, who built, owns and operates The Bear 92.5 was my boss for many years. I have a great deal of respect for him and his station.

You have an open invitation to stop by anytime for the 10 cent tour.

although the signal doesn't come in much in Atlanta, I would have to say Bulldog 103.7 in Athens. I was listening the other day and heard the beatles, the killers, the ranconteurs, the rolling stones and pearl jam all in the same hour. the morning show is pretty weak but the rest of the station is really good. not to mention i heard it almost all the way to greenville, sc going up 85.
