Lots of skips last night

I guess that's what you call it? ;)

Here in Houston picked up Victoria's stations at 25.1-4 all with 80% power basically all night long. Was able to bring in Austin's KVUE 24.1 and KTBC 7.1. On the analog side watched 16 and KNVA 54 out of Austin as well.

Very cool.

Tropospheric ducting.

Still cool though. :)

Maybe it was that.

Back as a kid when I was really into this type of thing I used to always get the PBS 16 fairly easy. Now, that I don't really try 16 was kinda a shock.

Back in the 80's analog stations that would come in fairly easy in NW part of town using plain rabbit ears were 6 (KFMD), 7, 10 (Beaumont), 12 (Beaumont), 16,18, 24 (Austin), 29 (Beaumont), 35 (San Antonio) and 42 (Austin).

With the results last night, I'm using a DB2 with amplifier sitting on the 2nd floor by a window so I was surprised to say the least. In fact, 25.3 out of Victoria looked to be a nice station. Wish I could get them full time.

On digital, I got KHOU, and KPRC on a indoor antenna with 100% capacity and on analog mostly the same and I still have them programmed too!

Does that mean KTBC has completed the digital transition? I heard they were originally going to transition on 3/31 but had to delay it until 6/12 due to some of the FCC requirements. When my mother came down to visit me last month, they couldn't get KTBC in San Marcos at her hotel. So, she had to come to my apartment in Austin to watch American Idol. They told her it was because KTBC was still in the transition process and had cut its power. She was very distressed!

I thought it was just skip but I'm out in Katy and was receiving KBTX-DT from Bryan with $8 rabbit ears. It went away for the most part but I can still get enough signal to lock in if I place them in the right spot. When using my Channelmaster UHF antenna in the attic, I get a rock solid signal. It appears their full-power signal is up and running.

KBTX-DT (50) just recently completed their full upgrades and is running at full power - which will put a signal into the Northern part of Houston... Wouldn't be surprised to see some ads in the near future targeting Conroe, NW Harris County, etc.

(I'm in Galveston county with no luck picking up a signal with my in-attic antenna, but may build a separate antenna tuned to 50 for outdoor use to try and pick up the signal...)
