Lou Dobbs Does Not Approve Of New CNN Show

When asked to comment on the recent announcement that CNN would be turning its 8 PM hour over to conservative columnist Kathleen Parker and disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, Lou Dobbs - who up until recently had hosted the 7 PM hour on the network - responded with "a few moments of laughter," then commented: "All I can say is, good Lord almighty." Dobbs would continue laughing before adding, "It's something to behold, I'll leave it at that."

So, already, it seems CNN's new primetime show is the laughingstock of cable news.

In a related item, Connie Chung, the former CBS News anchor who once hosted her own CNN show in the same timeslot, laments:
"It's sadly comical... and this is terribly disillusioning. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will give you more solid journalism than this program could possibly give."

CNN still doesn't have a clue, but the bigger idiot here is Greta Van Susteren when she said that this new show will start pulling viewers away from Olbermann.

In yer dreams, lady. This DOA mash-up will start grabbing Olbermann viewers when you start doing in-depth reports on Scientology.
 
Sadly, it's not about journalism anymore. CNN is getting drubbed in the evening ratings because they've been scheduling actual news programs (except for Larry King), when people would apparently rather be watching left or right wing pundits spew opinions. Exhibits - Beck, Hannity, Olberman, Maddow. I guess you could say that O'Reilly throws a bit of news in with his opinions, but the others are basically radio talk shows with cameras

My guess is that CNN is trying to play the same game, but avoid the "right wing" or "left wing" label by having one pundit from each side - Spitzer on the left, and Parker on the right. Whether it will work or not is anybody's guess.

Actually, she had said on her blog that the only way the new 8 PM show on CNN can be successful is if it can draw viewers away from Keith Olbermann. Because that is where most of the available viewers for such a show would exist.
