Lou Dobbs Leaves CNN

So Lou left CNN last night...if you listened to the comments it sounds like he could be doing anything from running for office to jumping to another network. I would find it hard to believe that CNN would let him out to go to a competitor...they have to be regretting the decision to let Beck go. Thoughts?

He will be on Fox Business in 3 months. Watch.

Let me second that!

What the ... ? Lou Dobbs wants to legalize illegals

Ex-CNN anchor suddenly champions amnesty, ripped as 'pathetic sellout'

Former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, the illegal immigration opponent with possible presidential aspirations, is stunning many today as he's looking to recast himself as a champion of Hispanic immigrants, now looking to legalize millions of illegal workers in the United States.

The Wall Street Journal reports the veteran newsman is working to repair what a spokesman called a glaring flaw: his reputation for antipathy toward Latinos.

The paper says Dobbs now supports a plan to legalize undocumented workers, a stance he long lambasted as an unfair "amnesty."

"Whatever you have thought of me in the past, I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together," he told Maria Celeste of the Spanish-language network Telemundo. "I hope that will begin with Maria and me and Telemundo and other media organizations and others in this national debate that we should turn into a solution rather than a continuing debate and factional contest."

"Many Hispanics consider you to be the No. 1 enemy of Latinos," Celeste told Dobbs. "Do you think that the community is somehow misjudging you?"

"Oh, not somehow. Definitively, absolutely," Dobbs responded. "By the way, I don't believe for a moment that the Latino, Hispanic community in the United States believes that of me at all. It has been the efforts of the far left to characterize me in their propaganda as such."

SO MUCH FOR DOBBS 2012!!!!!!!!!! Any radio stations airing his show I WOULD ADVISE THEM TO RETHINK THEIR PROGRAMMING!

They are pleased as punch that Beck is gone and CNN is happy to have Lou gone as well. They want to get back to being a respected name in Journalism (Even if it means a ratings loss) and Lou was far from that. This is a mutual win-win and I am sure that Mr. Dobbs is playing his victim card hard and strong, but doesn't really mean it. I feel that change is in the air at CNN...

I agree that Lou will land on his feet, but not sure if FBC will want someone who, in the past, has not been a great friend of Free-Trade/NAFTA/PNR for China and the rest of the economic liberalism that is part of the Ayn Rand philosophy at places like CNBC and FBC. He gets a bit Mavericky when you put him in front of a camera and may not be a pro-business as FBC is (purportedly- I have not watched FBC as Bloomberg is my financial news station of choice).

Yeah, I bet CNN is glad they let a guy go who is kicking their heads in nightly. Your politics blind you.

If Olbermann got good numbers the fact that I thought he was an idiot wouldn't matter, the numbers don't lie.

Kickin their heads in nightly? What? The show wasn't even that popular. It was in 4th place behind Shepard, Mathews, and Jane Velez-Mitchell (who the heck is that?) in the money demos for his time slot back in June when he was all Birther crazy. And I could care less about Mr. Dobbs opinions (In fact I agreed with him about half the time, especially during the Bush years when he took issue more often than not with the admin.). My politics blind me! Goodness, how dire.

How is this thread about Olbermann? CNN wants to be the high end journalism of TV (or at least, that is what they say- the go to zone for News without a bunch of opinion). Lou is not good for that. Neither is Olbermann or Beck or Maddow. But Arampour? Now that's the ticket. I don't know if this will work out for them or not. Lou just doesn't fit into their (current) strategy. I doubt they are crying and they seem like a pretty smart bunch of cookies.

I want you to pay attention to the actual conversation.

Ready?

Ok, good.

They are pleased as punch that Beck is gone and CNN is happy to have Lou gone as well.
Beck kills them nightly and Dobbs is off the air for now. I am sure you can wrap your mind around which one I was talking about when I said...
Yeah, I bet CNN is glad they let a guy go who is kicking their heads in nightly. Your politics blind you.
Got it?

Need more help?

I stated...
If Olbermann got good numbers the fact that I thought he was an idiot wouldn't matter, the numbers don't lie.
The meaning is, this is a business the goal is to win.

I hope this lesson finds you well, I am willing to help whenever you need it.

<Beck kills them nightly and Dobbs is off the air for now. I am sure you can wrap your mind around which one I was talking about when I said.>

Sorry bud. I thought we were talking about Dobbs. Ok, on to Beck.

<The meaning is, this is a business the goal is to win.>

Um, no. The goal of a business is to make a profit. Winning is a political goal. Your politics blind you.

<If Olbermann got good numbers the fact that I thought he was an idiot wouldn't matter, the numbers don't lie>

If ratings are all we want to look at, then CNN should put on professional wrestling and cartoons. They kick Beck's a$$ every night. The numbers don't lie.

Cable networks make money serving a niche to reach a particular demographic. CNBC gets low numbers but is worth money because of the demographic it serves. Same for HGTV. Fox News kicks their butts every night (as do the other news networks). Disney Channel kicks FNC's butt up and down. The point is can you sell adds and make money.

Beck and Dobbs are entertainers not newsmen. Conspiracy theorists etc. They belong on CNN as much as they belong on the cartoon network.
