Lou Dobbs: MSNBC Lacks "Guts"

The former host of CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" - by the way, its replacement, "John King USA," recording record lows for the timeslot, but that's a different story for a different thread - was interviewed by the New York Post when he was asked about the possibility of appearing on MSNBC. "Do you think they'd have the guts to bring an independent onto MSNBC? ... Are you kidding me? ... They have a corporate agenda," says Dobbs, adding that they are "scared to death" over there due to their low ratings. (Of course, Dobbs can say that now, as he is currently not a CNN employee.)

It has been rumored that Dobbs would resurface either on Fox News Channel or Fox Business Network, should he decide to return to cable news commentary.

MSNBC lacks almost everything including guts.

"Morning Joe" has to be one of the worst programs on that network. Don Imus was more informative and somewhat entertaining. Joe & Mika are about as exciting as watching grass grow. And the other "stiffs" that show features reminds me of a wax museum.

As for the "lefties" on at night (St. Matthew, Madcow and Uberman) I'm willing to bet that the Food Network generates more viewers than these individuals combined.

Now regarding Lou Dobbs: The FOX Network might hire him because he's to the right of Attilla the Hun.

CNN would never take Dobbs back, unless the network decides to retire Larry King so he can find and marry his 19th wife.

If Lou Dobbs is so insistent that he will never be on MSNBC, then how come he has no problem appearing on sister network CNBC?

Hmmm...

It might be because CNBC has a number of very conservative commentators, like Larry Kudlow. Their remarks are usually in reference to the stock market or the economy, but they're conservative none-the-less. NBC Universal seems to be developing a reputation as a left-of-center operation, but it's certainly not true of CNBC. Even MSNBC is not 24 /7 left wing monolith that people are making it out to be. (Morning) Joe Scarborough being the obvious example.

Lou Dobbs still calls himself "independent?" He's less "independent" in his views than even Bill O'Reilly!

MSNBC has been making progress with their ratings, beating CNN in prime-time lately. However, a more careful examination of MSNBC will reveal, (as Lkeller alludes to), a network that isn't totally left wing. Most of their weekend programming is either infomercials or repeats of NBC dateline crime programming. Their news blocks seem to be quite fair and balanced (sorry for that term), but true.

I never missed the nightly MSNBC block from 6PM to 10PM when Dubya was Prez cause they called him and his pals on Fox out for what they were over and over. I thought Keith's comments were very relevant. "Still Bushed" hit home for me all the time. Now I find it less compelling. They seem to be spending too much time mocking their counterparts on Fox and need to branch out. Too much ridiculing the "tea party" when there are loads of villians still around. Nuff said. I still watch them and Stewart and Colbert, but it all isn't as funny with Bush gone.
