Nahhh, Big Al, if those lines didn't get censored in 1972 there is no reason to do it 35 years later; they just don't play hits like "Perfect Day" (a worldwide smash thanks to television and U2), "Satellite Of Love", "I Love You Suzanne" or "Dirty Boulevard" because Pink Floyd, Bob Ceegah, Aerosmith and Freebird need the additional spins.
Was a time on WZLX that The Beatles and Aerosmith had a tough time, so it just goes to show there's no logic to classic rock radio. "Rock & Roll" is such a staple.
By the way, I'm listening to an advance copy of Ian Hunter's brilliant new album that arrived today.
It's called SHRUNKEN HEADS - and one wonders why Classic Rock radio doesn't play "Cleveland Rocks" (theme to the Drew Carey show), Hunter's version of "Ships" (a big hit for Barry Manilow) or Hunter's version of "Once Bitten Twice Shy" instead of the version by the unmentionable band.
No logic to classic rock radio. These songs are popular. That's why I listen to WBOQ more than any other station - they play some awesome stuff. Just watched THE CYRKLE doing "Turn Down Day" over a friend's house, and lo and behold it was on WBOQ...what great production, what great musicians THE CYRKLE were.
WODS should add this stuff. They only toured with THE BEATLES.
Sheesh.
