Is Jump coming back? I can only hope.
According to Aaron Ishmael, the company’s co-owner, until the sale is finalized, Loud Media’s plans are strictly preliminary. Whether the stations become signal amplifiers for Loud Media’s other East Tennessee operations — WPLA-FM 104.9 based in LaFollette; WVLZ-FM 106.1 in Oliver Springs; WTLT-AM 1120 (and 97.1 FM) in Knoxville; and WKCE-AM 1180 (and at 105.1 on the FM dial) in Knoxville — or programmed uniquely remains to be seen.
“Both of the (WKVL and WGAP) signals … are good compliments for signals we already have in the market from a frequency perspective,” Ishmael said. “We can’t really go into plans so much at this point, but we do have some pretty comprehensive ones that we think will be great things for the company, and certainly a great way to reach into Blount County, where we don’t have a strong signal currently.”
They did as far as I know. Maybe, they are leasing it? One Major Media is the operator. I do remember it being reported as a sale though.Interesting article. But I thought Loud Media sold WTLT. The article says they still own it.
Also something else interesting, jump1049.com was recently registed and redirects to one of their other Jump stations. Only 104.9 they own is in Knoxville.
That's what i'm expecting too. As far as 100.9, not sure what to think. I thought Lake FM was safe, but with Jump1049.com registered, who knows? 104.9 has an awful signal in most of the downtown area though. I've questioned why 104.9/105.1 haven't done a similcast yet. While checking various registered domains myself, I see that someone has recently registered 106vlz.com (as opposed to the current 1061vlz.com). This makes me wonder if they are going to drop the ".1" from the branding and simulcast the rock format on 105.9 (and of course then also on 1400 WGAP). I remember when WVLZ first moved to 106.1, many Blount County listeners got on social media to voice their displeasure about not being able to hear the signal. A new "106 VLZ" on 106.1 and 105.9 would solve that problem.
Interresting on the WPLA move. Going from a Northern rimshot to a southwestern rimshot, though I suppose closer.WGAP/WKVL launched at 3:30 under Loud Media ownership as Adult Hits "Random Music Radio" randommusicradio.com. I'm assuming this isn't the end of changes considering both translators are broadcasting from the same tower in Maryville. Also, according to radioinsight.com WPLA-FM has applied to move to the tower on the foothills parkway and licensed to Greenback. https://fccdata.org/?lang=en&appid=25076ff38265744901826eec51110319&facid=36230

I'd love to see the WKVL/WGAP translators moved up there. How are their current signals in Knoxville?
