Louisiana AM stations for sale

Searching for something else, found these on http://www.broadcaststations4sale.com/sale.html

small market, daytime, covers large military base. Owner wants a quick deal, asking $100,000 cash. Some new equipment just put in service, buyer to pay broker commission.

KFRA-AM 1390AM (full time regional, one tower omni directional) licensed to Franklin, Louisiana. Fully automated (Smarts UDSII digital), recently constructed studios. Asking price is $125,000

The only one I can figure IMO for the first would be KLLA as it only puts out 6 watts at night and is the only small market station neat a large military base that puts out a "daytime only signal"(as if it was around Barksdale, they would have touted the Shreveport area IMO)

KFRA is being split from the FM station (with both being priced originally at $800-$900k) due to the fact that the owners are proposing to the FCC to move KDDK 105.5 into the Baton Rouge market as a ADDIS station!!!..... This move would also move the location for KEUN 105.5 furthur SW of Eunice (but still keeping them as a city grade.. http://www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq.php?nprm=1067145
(docket 05-291)

I've been to see all the stations for sale in LA right now, KDLA (DeRidder) sucks. The building is basically falling apart and technically condemnable since there is no running water. KDLA also has a damaged tuning box which is making their daytime power around 650 watts due to high SWR. The station was originally listed at $75k which is seemed high, then owners later changed the listing on the website to 100k after we went to go see it. Eventually KDLA will probably get fined for excessive low power. On the plus side KDLA has a pretty new solid state transmitter that is AM-Stereo ready :)

According to the rumor mill, the move of KDDK to Addis is pretty much a done deal, the FCC is almost at approving the move. KFRA could be worth something if the power could be increased a bit, although right now its not a bad deal with a fairly decent daytime signal in morgan city and new iberia.

I didn't think about KDLA, I think because it actually has what is supposed to be a nighttime signal... But makes since..Thanks for the correction

Just checked recently, looks like Ken got his CP approved and is moving KDDK-FM to Addis...

KFRA looks like it'll stay there for now

I can also confirm it's KDLA, as I've spoken to both the broker and the seller(Bishop Willis') Attorney, John Trent.

I can also second what sorry shape the building is in. The City wants to condemn the building and THe Fine Bishop owes over $25,000 in back rent to the land owner where the tower sits. As I recall, The tower now belongs to the land owner.. but I could be mistaken.

KRFA has been up for sale on that site forever, and the price has been dropped at least twice.

I do know 105.5 has been off the air, or at least from Franklin for a while.. Someone up in Baton Rouge needs to see how it's doing...

I'm surprised it was oked considering the history of the licensee if I remember (they had some fines for FCC violations)

But the best one was the request for a silent due to lack of funds from advertising (due to Hurricane Katrina) until they are oked the move to Addis but the Am they own ain't silent (which I figured they would have silenced first)

Don't you mean Metarie? I know someone I can send down LOL

Bob Walker I know this is off subject but do you know or heard what is going on with WBOK did bishop willis dump it or was his license revoked. and are they planning to put it back on the air. (I could see an oldies station there)

That's not Bob Walker the oldie king, That's Paul Walker who has done broadcasting over most of the south including a famous stint at a Mississippi delta AMer.

And no Paul, Addis is about 10 miles SW of Baton Rouge proper. It's where a lot of the Baton Rouge stations have their towers at

105.5 can't move to New Orleans with 105.3 there.

WBOK has a STA for something issued in August, but I don't know what exactly it is.
