Louisville Fall Ratings

WAMZ down to a 7.8! Go Cox Go!!!!

A portion of this could easily be caused by the "newness syndrome" however, the stations do sound pretty damn good!

I never said they would overtake WAMZ, I did say they would take a chunk out of the station. And everyone told me I was wrong.

Oh well!

I don't recall WAMZ being below a 10 anytime from 1986 until last year. They had about a 17 share in 2004 when they were the only country game in town.

And when they were a better radio station. Whether you liked Gator's Top 10 at 10 Countdown or not (I did), it was live, local interactive radio...a far cry from the syndication that now occupied late evenings on WAMZ. They asked for it and Cox gave it to them...hope some of the increased billing goes into a live air staff on 103.1 (and of course into Greg's engineering budget :) )

Bob- Q103 has had a live airstaff for a month.

HotP- Mainline is no longer an Arbitron subscriber, so their numbers don't get published!

I wish all the best to Matt and the staff at QNU and RKA. They found a niche and its obviously working. However, they must tread carefully, it is Arbitron and we all know how no one can trust their results.

Down from?
11.1 in the summer book.
Wow! Get San Antonio on the line... Hello, Lowery Mays? Yes, your station sucks and here's proof!

Honestly though, I do feel bad for Coyote especially cause he built that station from the ground up. Too bad the current owners don't realize what a heritage country station it is.

We're discussing 12 plus, the real report card is the demos. If Whamzee is still strong in the key demos and the VP's keep it real then there is nothing to see here. My fear is a VP thinking out of the box will do something stupid and destroy a heritage station that really isn't broken.

AMZ sucks even worse 25-54. The 12+ numbers actually make them look better than they really are.

Excellent! At 80 miles from the market, I'm just far enough out that my car radio buttons aren't on Louisville stations. Did they pick up any of the old WAMZ well-knowns?

No, they didn't want that.

Kris Daniels does 6-12. She came from Fresno, and was a radio brat growing up. Her dad is Hall of fame PD Larry Daniels. (KNIX-Phoenix)

Shane Collins does 12-6. He is one of the old WDJX well-knowns. :)

The following was posted in the Cincinnati blog:

The only real shocker is the drop for WLW, which goes 5.4-2.9...surprising giving it was election season.

That being said, how did WHAS do? Did it take a hit too?

Not really. Down slightly, 11.5 - 10.8.- which is normal for them.

By the way- at the top, center of this board is a link called "Ratings". You can look them up there. (12+ only)

Cool, and that makes sense! I haven't explored the other areas of the board here yet. Just reading the posts to this point is entertaining enough for me.

I'm shocked there is such a difference between the numbers at these 2 heritage stations, but I guess each town is different in the audience and the radio "product".

WLW is #1 in Cincy up from a 9.6 to a spectacular 11.6.

The post you read must have been about how WLW did in Dayton. The local news talk station in Dayton (owned by Cox) now simulcasts on FM and had a huge rise. It's fair to say WLW will never do as good in Dayton as they used to now that FM talk exists.

I loved Gator's Top 10 @ 10 on WAMZ, but then again I'm pretty partial. Live and Local radio is alive and well in Frankfort on Froggy 104.9. I wish corporate radio would realize that this is the way to go. AMZ hasn't seen these kind of numbers in a long time, I know I hadn't seen those kind of numbers the 11 years that I was there. I do know that Coyote has his hands tied and it's killing him, hated what he has had to do the last several years...Dan, Sunny, Night Train, Me, Jill...it's kinda sad! I miss being on the air in Louisville, but I don't miss corporate radio! Forever Communications knows how to do it for sure!
