"Love Boat" ship to be scrapped

For a notable television icon, it's too bad some enterprising person hadn't bought it to turn it into a hotel, just like the Queen Mary.

Good I hated that show. Now if they just destroy all the negatives of the films, erase any tapes, and burn any DVDs, of the show that may be out there, it will all be just be a bad memory.

Was the show even filmed on the ship?

I seem to remember some bon-voyage bits and between-scene clips that looked like exteriors from the ship. Maybe some of the non-Mexico-west-coast special destination shows (Alaskan coast, Panama Canal, Mediterranean) included actual scenes with the crew/guest stars out on the deck somewhere. The interiors most likely all came ashore.

Wow, now THAT'S hate!

My grandmother was addicted to this show. This one along with Three's Company.
All of which I found quite strange for a woman of around 80.

I remember seeing a video on YouTube years back (before removed it by TPTB assoiciated with the DMCA) where the late Ray Combs (aka host of Family Feud from 1988-94) was doing stand-up. I remember he said about TV, he's glad they canceled The Love Boat, he said he used to watch it every week so it might dripped in Soviet waters! Good joke, but Ray Combs will be missed to Feud fans as well.

Too bad it couldn't have been traded to the government of North Korea for the return of the Pueblo.

not to mention it would be the perfect setting for a dating-based reality show
