Love Notes signs off

From All Access:

BONNEVILLE AC WILV (100.3 LOVE-FM)/CHICAGO and 8 year "LoveNotes" host JOHN SYMONS makes an exit. Reach JOHN at (312) 933-7930, or [email protected]. For now, weekender DONA is filling in.

Wonder if Mr. John Tesh will be appearing as the new night person?
______________

No. Definately not. Wonder if they'll make Dona Mullen full time.

Maybe WLIT can dump Delilah and put Symons on that shift. Or least move her to overnights to clear the Premiere inventory. Delilah is just horrible, Symons is a better host in my opinion and not as sappy. However, CC will probably continue to carry her since she is syndicated through Premiere and would be cheaper to run.
Edited by D1075 on 02/22/06 10:41 PM.

No surprise, station is taking a brighter stance.

John had a succesful run and lets hope he lands on his feet soon.

What makes you say that? Tesh's show is actually pulling a lot of good numbers in a lot of good places. Choose the voice tracked show and you can actually make Tesh sound pretty good with the station, and keep your own playlist.

Because they most likely dropped Lovenotes because they changed format from AC to Rhythmic Oldies.

...right

But you can pick up Tesh's show in voice tracked form, which allows you to plug his show into any format at any time you want.

Not to sound like a commercial for Tesh's show, but I would think the show would fit in well with Love's new direction.

CC pulled Delilah from Jones Radio Network when her contract expired, and put her on their Premiere Radio Network (or did Premiere buy out her contract with Jones?), almost giving CC priority in nearly all markets they have an AC station to airing her program, such as WLIT here in Chicago. John Symons will likely end up at another AC station either doing Love Notes in the evening daypart, or just an ordinary daypart such as middays or afternoons, or join Jones, WW1, or some other service to try and have a national syndicated show called Love Notes. I however don't see CC Chicago dropping Delilah since her show airs from 7pm-midnight. Besides, it's cheaper for them to have syndicated Delilah than local John Symons on in that time slot. All I can say is John Symons will be missed and will likely be leaving Chicago to get work somewhere else.

That would be sad. "Love Notes" was the only LOCAL program of it's type. It seemed to fit so well with "Love FM". Isn't getting rid of it going against the "love" theme?

In my opinion, John Tesch sounds a bit fake. It sounds like he's trying too hard to immitate Delilah. Maybe hi'll lighten up and discover himself.
______________

We have to put up with John Tesh 7 days a week from 7PM-5AM on WEZY in addition to Saturday mornings. I believe WSJY Fort Atkinson runs the show as well. Except they stop at 12 and go into another syndicated show instead of going all the way to 5.

The show is:

John
a bunch of AC music
a prep service full of did you know's

it's torture.
______________

...and not targeted for you. As I stated before, it pulls in good numbers (including on my station...he's #1 in the demo) in many different places.

Tesh's show is not him trying to be Delilah. If anybody is trying to be Delilah it's that unbelievably awful Leeza at Night. What is she trying to do?? But I digress...Tesh is actually a very good alternative to Delilah. It's not full of ultra-light songs and sappy stories, and it's nothing against Delilah which also does well, it's just not a Delilah knock-off
______________

Ironic--he was the first one back on the air when Love debuted.

And 100.3 WNND: Hits Of The 80s & 90s. I think he was already on the 1st (or 2nd) day of the format.
______________

I believe that Tesh also available sans music so you can tailor it to your format. Love to put his show on a heavy rock station as a goof.

Someone beat you to the punch... Tesh IS on a Rock station (albeit a "Rock AC")... he's on CC's heritage WHCN/FM-Hartford.... (www.theriver1059.com)

...and from the world of strange but true.... His show is number one in its daypart with BOTH adult persons... and MEN... whodda thunk!
